Hatcher and the late Mr. Hatcher of Mt. Olive. Greenwood Goes old Negro girt of Raleigh, Rt. 6, bought a registered Jersey heifer for her ,4-H project in May, 1946 from a well known breeder. The heifer dropped a bull calf early in August, and in September Mary Lee entered both animals in the Negro Junior State Dairy Show, where the heifer was award ed second place and the calf, which was only three weeks old, won first place in an unclassified group of male animals. :: During the same monthe, the heifer won second place in the Durham County Dairy snow. Mary Lee sold her malp ralf early in May of this year to the Mechanics and Farmers Bank for $60, and the calf is to remain in the community for farmers to use in building better quality dairy Research On Turkeys Work espeially designed to de velop more economical methods of turkey feeding is underway in the research program at State College. Also in the program is breeding research aimed at developing a su perior turkey that will have good type and lay a large number of eggs that will hatch well.
