Lav Virtually all of North Carolina's 100 counties shared in the increase from 1945 to 1940 In number of employers covered by the Employ- ment security law, numbers of workers protected by The law, av erage weekly wage and total wages which went above a billion dollars in 1946 for the first time in the State's history. Duplin County had 48 employers subject to the law in 1945 which increased to 62 in 1046. This county, in 1945 had 977 workers protected by the lav, a number which had increased in 1946 to 1,202 workers. Total wages paid to covered workers in 1945 was $1,188,750 as compared with $1,642,173 in 1946. School In Army High school graduates may sel ect a specialized training school prior to entering the Regular Army and be assured of attending that school under the provisions of a new directive from the War Depart ment, said MlSgt. ' Mrs. Kale lanier in Funeral services for ' Mrs. Kate Lanier, 63, wife. of C. R. Lanier, were held at the home Tuesday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. R. C. Kennedy of Beulaville. Bur ial was-in -the. family cemetery. Mrs. Lanier died Monday after a short illness. She was a lifelong member of Lanier's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband; -six sons, Ralph, Ray, Tom, John S., and Andrew Lanier of near Chinquapin, and Paul Lanier of Beulaville, RFD; two daughters, Mrs. B. L. Brown of Chinquapin and Mrs. Garland F. Nicholson of Richlands; and 16 grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.
