Oct. 18. Tobacco prices were ir-
' regular during the week with the
trend weaker. Rainy weather, which
caused offerings to show "high
: order" was the contributing factor
in causing price Irregularities ac
cording to trade reports. Most of
the leaf grades closed in Eastern
North Carolina markets it $24,00
. to $57.; cutters $57 to $60.; and
lugs $50 to $58. The State's Middle
Belt markets reported closing leaf
prices at $21.50 to $55; cutters $55
to $58; and lugs $30 to $58. Old
Belt Markets reported closing pri
ces for most leaf grades at $22.50
to $80; cutters $56 to $60; lugs $32
to $54; and primings $20 to $30.
Only three Border Belt markets
will be open for sales during next
week, Fairmont and Lumbertcn, N.
. C, and Mullens, S. C.

Market Summary
' Oct. 17. Southern livestock
marketings slacked off sharply
this week, and cattle prices re
bounded again to levels near those
of two weeks ago, with hog prices
up even more. Cattle arrivals de
clined about 37 per cent from the
previous week; calf arrivals were
off 6 per cent and bogs declined
lightly.
