Oct 28-31, being the Week ot Prayer for the organization, a spec- ' lal program was presented. Taking " part on the program were Mrs. Williams Mrs. J. F. May, Mrs. C. C. Jones, Mrs. Jasper Tyndall. Mrs. Reuben King and Mrs. L. H. Tur ner. A special Week of Prayer of fering was taken. ; - Three new members were added . to the roll. Iced drinks and cookies carrying out the Halloween motif were ser- ved to the 14 ladies present. j . Miss Maxwell Wed ToMr.Yatlinglon " . - Mi Ttnse Maxwell, daughter of v Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Maxwell of Pink Hill and Mr. John Watlington, Jr., of Reidsville were married in the Church of Christ at Reidsville on " Sunday, Oct 26. Rev. Duke C. T Jones, pastor of the church, offi ciated. The double ring ceiemony . was used. .' Miss Maxwell, an attractive blonde, is a graduate of B. F. Grady . wih School. The couple will re side in Reidsville where the groom is employed by The Jewel box. at a miscellaneous shower for her daughter, Mrs. Willard Whitley of Wilson, at her home near Gradj School on Saturday afternoon. The honoree receive many pretty and useful gifts. ' J A, salad plate with coffee was served to about 35 guests. Mrs. Maxwell Is Hostess At Shower Mrs. W; W. Maxwell entertained Mrs. Turner Hostess To Bridge Club Mrs. G. M. Turner was hostess to her bridge club at her home on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. T. A. Turner received! high score prize for club members, Mrs. Ike Stroud second high and Mrs. Matt Burke the consclation prize. Mrs. juewis Everett received a guest prize. Coca colas were served at the beginning of play and after scores were totaled, ice cream and cake were served. Entertains At Fish Stev Mr. Z. M. Williams was host at a delightful fish stew with all the trimming! at his home here on Wednesday evening of last week. Rev. Kessler Here Rev. Lawiente? Kessler, a formfr pastor, is conducting a series of services at the Presbyterian. Church here in Pink Hilt this week. The meeting will come to a close with the service Sunday night. Nov. 9. Rev. Kessler has been staying at the home of Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Turner. Idle Hour Bridge Club Meets Mrs. Frank Wiley was hostess to the Idle Hour Bridge Club at Its first meeting at her home here on Tuesday evening. The club Is com posed of 12 members and meets every Tuesday evening. The Wiley residence was attract ively decorated' with autumn flow ers. Miss Carolyn Parrish was the recipient of high score prize, Mrs Lynwood Turner second and Miss Linda Edwards the consolation prize. Members of the newly organized club are Mesdames Lynwood Tur ner, C. C. Jones, Aubrey Turner, James Miles, Johnnie Holden, Gra ham Turner, Mike Inman, Levi Everett and Misses Carolyn Par rish, Ann Youngblood and Linda Edwards. Halloween Party A Success About $400 was realized from re ceipts of the Halloween Party held at the school Friday night, Oct 31. Miss Joyce Pierce, winner in the High School Popularity Contest re ceived a fountain pen; Mac" Harper, the .Elementary School winner, f in received i fountain pen; Freddie Simpson' the Baby Contest winner, received a wagon. Other prizes were given. Personals Mr. Rollings Snelling arrived re cently from Haiti where he was in the mahogany business. He was ac companied by his wife, the former Amelia Grady, and daughter, Susan and are now in Albany, Ga., where they will make their home. Mrs. Perrv Davis of near Holt's store, had an eve removad In H Kln- ston hospital last week. An abscess had formed at the base oi ine eye ball, necessitating its removal. Mrs. T. J. Turner entertained a number of friendi at a dinner party at her home Tuesday even ing Oct 28, honoring her husband on bis birthday. Mrs. Mattie Shepard spent the week end with her son, Mr. Robert Rhennrri In Kinston. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Scott and daughter spent the week end With Mr nnrt Mrs. Ellis SheDOTd.
