VMS Meets
The W. M. S. of the Kenansville
Baptist Church met Monday after -noon
in the home of Mrs. C. B.
Sitterson, with the president, Mrs.
C D. Dobson presiding. The pro
gram on Africa was given by Mrs.
Sitterson. A good number were
present.
Bible Study Course
An all-day study course""was held
Wednesday in the home of Mrs. E.
V. Vestal. Mrs. Vestal, chairman of
the Mission Study group, presided.
The topic of study was "That The
World May Know " Those taking a
part in the course were Mesdames
W...M. Brinson, Dan Davis, C. b.
Sitterson, W. B. Murray and C. D.
Dobson. A covered dish luncheon
was served.
Bridge Club Meets
Mrs. J. O. Stokes was hostess to
the members of the Monday Even
ing Bridge Club with Miss Martha
Pickett as guest. Pretty arrange
ments of late fall flowers were
used on auxiliary 'tables. When
scores were tallied, Mrs. M. F.
Allen, Jr., was high scorer for club
members and Miss Pickett was re
membered with a guest prize.
Names were drawn for the an
nual club Christmas tree. The hos
tess served delicious pie a-la-mode
with hot coifee.
Scout Rally
A rally of the Intermediate Girl
Scouts and the. Brownie Scouts of
Duplin County will meet for their
first rally on December second.
All Girl Scouts are urged to take
notice of this announcement and
discuss it with troop leaders. The
meeting will be held in the Ke
nansville School auditorium at 5
P. M. A picnic supper in the lunch
room at 6 o'clock. All girls are
asked to bring a box supper.

Bertis J. Turner, fanner of near
Teachey died at 11 o'clock Sunday
night. He had been 111 for the past
two weeks. Funeral services were
held from Rockflsh , Presbyter
ian Church Tuesday at 3. m., con-
ducted by the Rev. C. Ti Rogers,
pastor of the Providence Methodist
Church of which he was A member,
assisted by the Rev. Ben Brown,
pastor of the Rockflsh church. In
terment was in Rockflsh cemetery.
Surviving are his widow, the for;
mer Mary King of Wilmington; and
the following children by a former
marriage; five sons, Wilborne of
Staten Island, N. Y., Moody of Ran
burn, N. J., Hallie of Orwigsburg,
Pa., Worth of Goldsboro and Manly
