At a meeting Wednesday, Feb. 25, 1948, of the Farm Ownership families who have purchased farms through the assistance of the FHA program in Duplin County, it was shown that 21 of the 54 families have paid for their farms in full. The first farm purchased was in the fall of 1939. All farms were purchased cn a 40-year repayment agreement, which means that 21 of these families repaid their 40 year loans in nine years or less. The remaining 33 families have, on an average, paid more than one half of their land dobt. No family in Duplin is behind schedule on their land payments now. It Was PVnlainor) n( tk. ii that the FHA still has money avail able to buy farms at 34 interest repayable over a 40-year period Mar. 15 Deadline Farm Worksheets Duplin County Farmers have un til March 15th to complete theif farm worksheets for 1948 states J. E. Sloan chairman Duplin ACA. These worksheets show the soil conservation practices for which each farmer desires assistance ' on : his individual farm. The funds available to pay for practices for 1948 are approximately one-half of the amount in 1947, therefore it is important that farmers de siring assistance file their request before March 15. To qualify for assistance the far mer is obliged to carry out conser vation practices as specified. Checks are made to see that they are carried out to assure the de sired conservation results. C. Mrs. Scott is a graduate nf Wal lace High School and is now a se nior at East Carolina Teachers College. Mr. Scott is a graduate of War saw High School, attended N. C.
