Patrolman and Mrs. Thomas of
Hillsboro are expected to come to
Pink Hill within the next few days,
where Mr. Thomas will be stationed
with the State Highway Patrol.
They will occupy an apartment in

Shepard, the former Lily Gleen
Gordon, at the home of Mrs. San
derson Tuesday night. Many pretty
and useful gifts were received. The
hostesses served iced drinks, indi
vidual cakes, cookies and peanuts.

Cecil Shepard Is
Injured; Accident
While repairing a leaky roof at
the home of J. F. May in Pink Hill
Thursday afternoon Shepard nar
rowly escaped death when a torch
blew gasoline practically all ovor
him and the roof. The pot contain
ing the gas was in flames and when
Shepard tried to kick it off the
roof his leg was badly burned as
well as other parts of his body. He
was treated by a local doctor.
H. D. Club Meels
Mrs. Fred Williams was hostess
to the Home Demonstration Club
at her home Thursday afternoon.
The topic for discussion was, "The
Control of garden, flower, and
shrub insects." Mrs. Herman Stroud
presided and the hostess served refreshments.
Entertains At Bridge
Mrs. G. M. Turner was hostess
to her bridge club at her home on
Wednesday afternoon. Prize win
ners were Mrs. T .A. Turner, higi;
Mrs. J. J. Smith, second; and Mrs,
J. M. Jones won the consolation
prize. Mrs. W. H. Jones scored
highest for visitors. Potato chips
with coca colas were served at the
beginning of play and after scores
were totaled, ice cream 'ind caire
were served.

Miss Carolyn Parrish was hostess
to th3 Idle Hour Bridge Club at
the home of Mrs. T. A. Turner on
Tuesday night. Miss Ann Young-

bers and Mrs. James Miles, second,
while Miss Linda Edwards received
the consolation prize.
Mrs. T. A. Turner received a
