Entertains At Dance
Johnny Jenkins, Jr. son of Mr.
and Mrs. A. J. Jenkins celebrated
his birthday Saturday night when
he entertained at a dance in the
Legion Hut. Pretty arrangements
xf spring flowers decorated the
lounge and made a pretty setting
for the teen-age guests.
Throughout the evening Mrs
Jenkins poured punch and later
assisted in serving green and white
ices and birthday cake -About 20
guests attended.

Reports were given by the sev
eral leaders and Miss Hilda Clontz
gave a demonstration on "Business
Women of Today and Tomorrow."
The hostess served a congealed
salad course with cake, mints, nuts
and tea.'

with yoke of silk marquisette bor
dered with applique of seed
pearls, and small turn-down collar
bordered with applique. The
sleeves were shirred to the stbow
and pointed at the wrists. II 1
veil of illusion fell from a coro
net of orange blossoms. She car
ried a white and silver prayer
book topped with lilies of the val
ley, allium, and delicate pink or
chids, and showered with narrow
white satin ribbon.
After the ceremony, the bride
changed to a suit of tff-vhite ga
bardine with green hat and ac
cessories and the couple left by
automobile for a trip through the
North Carolina mountains.
Mrs Hines is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Martin of
Mt. Olive. She was graduated from
the Mt. Olive High School at the
head of her class, and unce her
graduation had been employed as
secretary to the gee.ol manager
of the Mt. Olive Pickle Company.
She was active socially and in civ
ic and religious work, especially
in the affairs of the Pbyterian
church. Mr. Hines is the son of
Dr. and Mrs. William E. Hines of
Warsaw. He was graduated from
the Warsaw High School and at
tended State College, Raleigh, be-

The marriage of Miss Sara Re
becca Martin of Mt Olive and Mr.
James Herman Hines of Warsaw
and Whiteville was solemnized in
the Presbyterian church at Mt. Ol
ive Saturday afternoon, April 10,
at 4:30 o'clock, with the bride',
pastor, the Rev B. E. Dotson offi
ciating in the double ring ceremony.
The church edifice was decora
ted with ferns, white spirea, and
white gladioli, and lighted by ca
thedral candles. In the pulpit, a
background of spreading ferns
served as an effective foil for
standards of candles and white
gladioli.
While the wedding guests were
assembling, Mrs. James Davis at
the organ gave a program which
included '.Sweetest Story Ever
Told", ..Indian Love Call", and
Schubert's ..Serenade". Before
the ceremony Miss Jacqueline Da
vis sang ..Because", and Mrs.
Everett Joyn r sang "Always".
Mrs. Davis accompanied both so
loists, and during the ceremony
played very softly Wagner's "To
An Evening Star". The traditional
marches were used.
Ushers were Sam Hines and
William Hines, brothers of the
groom, and his cousin, James Mid
dleton all of Warsaw.
Bridesmaids were Miss Betty
Barbrey of Mt. Olive, -and Miss
Virginia Potts of Mt. Olive and
Concord. They wore long white
taffeta dresses fashioned with
fitted bodices with square neck
line and narrow berthas, short
puffed sleeves, and bustletack.
