The Flue Cured Tobaoco Marketing Commit tee, representing lea-" growers, buy ers and warehousemen, fet open ing dites for the 1948 tobacco sel ling at its annual session Tuesday. The 15-man panel also reelected Fred S. Royster of Henderson as chairman and J. B. Roundtree of Lumberton as secretary. Opening dates for the five flue cured belta were: Georgia-Klorida, July 22; Border Belt, , August 3; Eastern Belt. Aug ust 19; Middle Belt, September 2, and Old Belt, September 13. The committee set selling time on all flue-cured belts and markets from Virginia to Florida at five hours per day, with a selling rate of 400 piles an hour. Officials said the. maximum weight per pile will remain at 250 poinds but a toler ance allowance not to exceed 50 pounds per pile will be allowed for leaf sold by farmers only.
