That' what Lacy Weeks, Duplin County Agent, said today in stressing the import ance of avoiding falls by keeping ladders and step stools in good re pair and climbing them properly. "Inspect ladders frequently for rusted or loose bolts and nails, cracked or loose rungs or supports; make repairs immediately or get a new ladder. That's cheaper than having an accident." he said. He warns against standing on chairs, stools, boxes, tables or other makeshift devices not intended for that purpose. Severe injury and death have often resulted from falls at low levels". C. July 20, 1048 Dear Friend: It is w ith great joy that I write this letter. The heat wave has broken and the busy season is just about over. I am writing to urgently request that you come to Island Creek Church for our next Sunday morning's service. During the summer months the attendance has fallen off some and we are most anxious to have everyone attend this service if possible. I am planning to mention some things that I believe we should be thinking about with respect to the future program of our work. Already we have accomplished much but much more remains to be done. All of us I am sure are proud of the fine B. T. U. organimtion and its activities, the church choir, the addition of the Sunday School rooms to the church. These are splendid achievements. Naturally all of us are concerned about the Polio epidemic. I would suggest that we use every precaution for the safe guard of our children. I think the children should be kept home since the epidemic is so bad. The older people can attend service however, and I shall be so glad if you will come and invite all others whom you may see to be with us. I have recently moved to the Baptist Parsonage at Chinquapin and my family will be so glad if you will arrange to pay us a visit. Should you wish to get in touch with me, you can find me there. With kind regards to you and yours, I am yours in His Name. N. E. Gresham, Pastor.
