J. Dobson, W. M. Brin son, L. Southerland.'Edna Stroud, Misses Dorothy Wightman and Lula Hinson. Mesdames P. J. Dobsor. C. B. Sitterson and J. E. Jerri tt were joint hostesses with IVrtss Lula Hinson at a lovely bridge party last Saturday night in the club rooms. The delightful affair was to announce the approaching mar riage of Mrs. Doris Dobson Fulgo, who shared honors with Mi.ss Anne Dail, bride elect of August. Pines banked the walls and ivy entwined the posts. The rooms were decore ted in green and white. Lovely ar rangements of white gladioli and fern were plaved on auxiliary ta bles. As guests arrived they were presented miniature green and white corsages and found their places at the seven tables by draw ing tallies which were passed by Miss Janet Boney. The two honor ees were given lovely corsages and so were Mrs. G. R. Dail, mother of Miss Dail. Mrs. N. B. Boney and Mrs. J. L. Williams assisted the hostesses in serving a sweet course of ice cream and bridal cakes, nuts and mints, soon after the guests arrived. An attractive card attach ed to the individual nut cups an nounced the approaching marriage of Mrs. Doris Dobson Fulgo to Mr. Charles Odum on September 7, W 48. During the games the hostesses served fruit punch. Higli score prize was awarded Mrs. J. B. Wal lace and second high to Mrs. Ful go. Miss Dail was showered with a number of useful gifts from all present Kontract Klub Mrs. I. C. Burch was hostess io the K?nan3villc Kontract Klub on Wednesday evening. An extra la ble was in play honoring Miss Anne Dail, bride-elect of the month The dining room and living rrom which were ensuite were decorated with mixed summer flowers. At the end of progressions Mrs. N. B. j Boney held high score for mem bers and Mrs. G. R. Dail for visit ors. Mrs. Boney was presented a ! white pitcher and Mrs. Dail a blae pottery bowl. The honoree Miss j Dail, was given a candy-jar. The ! hostess, assisted by her daughter, Millie, served a tempting fruit sal ad plate with iced tea. mm Death Valley SUN. - MON. Dan Duryea in mm Afternoon Tea Production Report The Executive Secretary of the American Red Cross, Duplin Chap ter, assisted the Production Chair man, Mrs. Sam New'on. in packing and shipping 13 bathrobes for men during the past month. These robes were sent to the VA Hospital at Columbia, S. C. for use of the patients there. Mesdames Boney and Newton join in thanking the following ladles who assisted in making the robes, Mesdames Ivy Bowden, Margaret Tucker, Nora Mrs. A. T. Outlaw was hostess to a lovely afternoon tea Saturday af ternoon at 4 o'clock. Her home was decorated with lovely summer flow ers. A number of FHA girls called and were greeted as they arrived by the hostess and Miss Grace Ba ker. Miss Emily Rivenbark presid ed over the Register. The guests floated into the dining room and were served punch and cookie.-'. Misses Janet Boney and Jean Tyn dall presided over the punch bowls and Miss Betty Whitfield passed cookies. After refreshments the girls went into he yard and outlined work for the coming year in the local FHA Club of the Ke nausville High School. Personals Bill Jackson and J. W. Jackson of Beulaville accompanied Leo Jack son to Sanitorium on Sunday to visit their brother Harry Jackson. Mrs. Louise Mitchell made a business trip to Fayetteville on Monday. Cake and ice cream were served to 12 children who helped Jean enjoy her anniversary. Mesdames P. J. Dobson and V. B. Sitterson shopped in Goldsboro last Wednesday. Mrs. Lauren Sharpe accompanied Mr. and Mrs. F. W. McGowen to Wilmington one day last week. Mrs. Amos Brinson and Miss Jean Tyndall spent a day last week in Wallace. Mrs. H. L. Stevens, Jr., of War saw spent a day recently here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Beasley. Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Hasty have moved into an apartment In the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. K. Bland. Still Operators Make Escape An all-night vigil beside a whis key still in Cypress Creek Town ship proved of little value to Du plin sheriff's deputies last week. The three operators who showed up shortly before dawn jumped a ditch and escaped. Deputy Sheriff Perry Smith said the party had found the 125 gallon vat-type still with about 1,000 gal lons of mash ready for distilling. It was destroyed. Others on the raid were J. F. Futrelle, C.
