Brooks Department Store Mr and Mrs A J Jenkins and Mrs R E Wall have returned from Wash ington, D C where they spent sev eral days Mr and Mrs James Carter of Brunswick, Ga. were week end guests of his mother Mrs. W. A. Carter and Mr. and Mrs. Avon Sharpe. Mrs. Carter accompanied them home for a visit. Mr. and Mrs.-L. R. Albertson and son Jerry and Sgt. and Mrs, Rouclie and daughter Shelia of Warsaw at tended the family dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Slokley Bos tic In Beulaville Sunday. Dr. and ' Mrs. J. W. Straughan returned Sunday from Greensboro where they visited his sisters Misses Alice, Mattie and Mable Straughan. Mrs. Fred Gaylor attended the funeral of J. T. Harrell in Burgaw last Tuesday. Mr. Harrell, father of Mrs. Fred Gaylor, Jr. of Wilming ton, died suddenly at his home the preceding Saturday night. Dr. and Mrs. Gingrich have mov ed from Warsaw to Michigan where he will continue his medical edu cation. Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Hufham are residing in the Russ Apartments. Mr. Hufham is with Wells-Oates Lumber Co. in Kenansville. Dr. and Mrs. W. H7 Freeman and daughter Cynthia of Durham visit ed Rev. and Mrs. G. Van Stephens Saturday. Little Beverly Jo return ed home with them. The Junior Class- of the Warsaw High School presented their aflhoal Leslie Brown, with the Wilming ton Star News, visited his parents over the week end. Miss Sarah Gaylor and roommate Miss Faye Wilkins, High Point col lege, visited Miss Gaylor's parents from Thursday til Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. C. V. Garner and guest Mrs. Clyde Hester of Creed more are visiting Mrs. Bill Patter son and family in Mt. Olive. . Mesdames Hector McNeil, Clyde Surratt, and L. H. Brown recently attended the furniture show in High Point. Entertains Mrs. Lawton Albertson was hos tess Friday evening to her bridge club and several additional guests at three tables among a setting of pink camellias and candles. Club high, two plaques, went to Miss Nora Blackmore and visitors high, dish towels, went to Mrs. Herman Hollinesworth. Mrs. Frank Hobbs held traveling prize, ash trays. Af ter several progressions the hostess served delicious Valentine cake and coffee. Announce Birth Mr. and Mrs. Moman Barr of War saw, announce the birth of a son, Momon Hoke Barr, II, on Wednes day, Jan. 26, 1949, Goldsboro Hos pital. Mrs. Barr is the former Miss Florence Moore of Warsaw. Class' Play "Anabelle Steps In", a hilarious two act comedy, on Fri day evening at the high school. Di rected by Miss Helen Brown the characters were portrayed by Jean Miller, Joe West, Billy Wiggs, Anne Huie; Betty West, J. B. Jerritt James Drew, Evelyn Davis, Phylis:; Whitfield, Oliver Jones and Wanda Moore. Assisting between acts were K. Buney, who presented his im personation pf "Life Gets Tedious", in a most remarkeble manner. Spir ituals were sung by a quintette com posed of George Best, Thomas Rog ers, Bobby Porter, K. Bundy and Joe West. These were thoroughly enjoyed by the audience. Mrs. Garner Mrs. Wilbur Garner was a delight ful hostess Wednesday afternoon when she entertained her club in the Bowden apartments. Spring flowers and potted plants decorated the home and two tables were in play. Upon arrival guests found their places by means of attractive Valentine place cards and were served delicious Japanese fruit cake and coffee. After several progress ions Mrs. Allen Draughon received, a cake and cheese slicing set for high score and Mrs. L. S. Whittle for second high was presented a nov elty darnar. Mrs. Brown Hostess Mrs. Glenn Brown was hostess to her bridge club Tuesday evening at her home on Pollock St. which was attractively decorated with ca mellias and flowering quince. L. C. Synan, pastor of the Pentecos tal Holiness Church, Hopewell, Va. The .bride chose as her costume an aqua crepe dress with blade ac cessories and her flowers were gar denias. Mrs. W; P. Stancil was matron of honor and was attired in a blue crepe dress with black accessories. Mr. Stancil had as best man, Mr. W. P. Stancil. The ceremony was witnessed by close friends and the immediate family. After a honeymoon trip to North Carolina the couple will be ron and bingo award, a box of cheese biscuits, was held by Mrs. Dick Kerr.
