Hall, Grand Exalted Ruler of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, outline the Order's campaign to help the nation's schools teach democracy. Elks lodges are equipping, their local schools with sets of "Our American Heritage", rtlmttripa that dramatize the birth and develop ment of our democratic freedoms from Magna Charta to the present, bring the Freedom Train right into school rooms. The campaign is part of Elks' program to "make democracy work." The Digest produced "Our American Heritage" at request of the National Education Association and The American Heritage Foundation, sponsor of Freedom Train. . Meeting The usual good attendance was had at the regular meeting of the PTA Monday evening. Mrs. W. H. Jones presided. Mrs. Lloyd Pate led the devotional and a Founders Day program was presented with mothers of the community taking part. Mrs. J. A. Jones of Kinston was present and spoke briefly jn "Cancer." A refreshment committee then served the members after the meet ing adjourned. Women of Church A regular meeting of the Wo men of the Presbyterian- Church women with Mrs. Frank Wiley as hostess, at her home, was held on Mr. Kenneth Taylor of the fac ulty here, who has been in a Kin gton hospital, is now recuperating at his home near Snow Hill. Mrs. Jesse Southerland of Wal lace visited relatives here on last Thursday. Misses Carolyn Parrish and Nar cie Williams spent the week end at Wilsons Mills. Messrs. W. J. Smith and Louis Williams were business visitors in Raleigh Monday. R K. Smith of UNC spent the week end at home here.
