r believe the Inclosed verse (r won't call tt a poem) expresses the
f sentiments of 90 of the citizens of DtipUn when they are asked what
j their ancestors did.
p Of course, I know your pageant will probably be about the other

Grandpa Stayed At Home And Farmed
. Grandpa fought the Civil War. '
; Grandpa came back home unharmed.
Grandpa's offspring numbered nine, ' ' .
Grandpa stayed at home and farmed.
Some sourht for fold. The shininc calf
They raised to worship held them charmed;
But Grandpa raised bis calves to eat,
For Grandpa stayed at home and farmed.
Some followed after politics - -.
At Freedom's bonfire scorched or warmed;
But Grandpa sat beside his hearth,.
For Grandpa stayed at home and farmed.
Fame's nectar, often bitter-sweet,
Sometoucht, as cities' hives they swarmed;
But Grandpa's bees gave wholesome food.
For Grandpa stayed at home and farmed.
And when God asked, "What have you done?"
I know Grandpa was not alarmed - -"Just
as you told the first man to,
Dear Lord, I stayed at home and farmed!"
