Renouncing her career, Helen seeks rolitude in a mountain retreat with her collie dog (Lassie) who inno cently was the cause of her con's death. Embittered against all chil dren, Helen rebuffs the friendly overtures of young Jerry (Claude Jarman, Jr.), a boy from a nearby orphanage who reports daily to do her chores. Whew . . . ain't it hot? Mrs. A. D. Outlaw Dies At Home Mrs Leona Rouse Outlaw, 78, widow of the late A. D. Outlaw of Outlaw's Bridge, died at her home at 11 p.m. Sunday following a long illness. Funeral services were held at S p.m. Tuesday from the Outlaw Bridge Universalist Church. The body lay in state one hour in the church prior to the services. In terment followed in Maplewood Cemetery in Mt. Olive. Surviving are seven children, Mrs. Sam W. Price and H. A. Outlaw of Seven Springs; Mrs. L. B. King of Greens boro, Mrs. Ed Smith of Klnston, Mrs. Alton Barnes of Lucama, Mrs. Johnny Pearson of ReldsvlUe, and Mrs. H. C. Dobey, Jr., of Al'uemarla; 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mr. Leonard Grady and son were in Kenansville on business Monday. Miss Geraldine Grady of Fayet- tevllle visited her parents Mr. and Mrs. Durham Grady Tuesday and Wednesday. Mr. and Mrc. Earl Stroud enter tained Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grady and children Saturday evening with an ice cream party. Miss Mary Anna Grady visited her sister Amelia who lives in Al bany, Ga. last week. Seniors Hold Out-Door Supper The 1949 Senior Class of the B. F. Grady School enjoyed an out door picnic supper at the School Thursday night. School Openings The date for the opening of B. F. Grady School has been set for Thursday, August 18th. The opening date for the Pink Hill School has been set for August 31. The new building, which has been under construction for the past few months, will add much iO the comfort and convenience of all concerned. It is a valuable asset to the town and community. Church Supper A sandwich supper, sponsored by the women of the Presbyterian Church, will be held at the church in Pink Hill Sunday evening, July 31. A program will be presented. Mr. T. J. Turner will be ir. charge of arrangements and all members of the organizations, their familas and friends are cordially invited. To Attend Farm And Home Week Mr. John E. Civics Club Meets The Pink Hill Civics Club held its regular meeting Friday night of last veek. Mr. Arthur Kennedy of Bculaville, Duplin County Com missioner, was present and spoke briefly. The building of better roads for the community was the main topic for discussion. A good attendance was reported.
