Duplin Negro Is
Turkey Producer
By: R. E. WILKINS
Ed Dudley Monk, of the Stanford

Out behind his modern home
amid the rows of corn and soy beans
is Eds small turkey enterprise. He
is a brother-in-law to the successful
producer, James Mainor of Sandy
Cross community. This is Ed's first
year as a turkey producer and he
started with 1,000. Through no fault
of his own, some 250 poults died
from Omphalitis, commonly known
as Navel ill. This disease is usu

incubation precautions, however,
this disease only occurs from three
to ten days after hatching. Ed Dud
ley now has about 750 vigoriously

terms of further diversification in
the use of his land.
A massive pasture seeding dem
onstration will be heldat his farm
