Duplin Farm Agent Notes Pasture Meetings: Mr. S. H. Dobson, Extension Pasture Specialist will be In Duplin IOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!000OdOOOOOOOOOOO County next Wednesday, Sept. 21, for two pasture meetings. At 10:00 A. M. there will be a meeting on the farm of J. C. Andrews, 2 miles east of Cedar Fork. At 2:00 P. M. another meeting will be held on LeRoy Simmons' farm -1-2 miles eat of Outlaw's Bridge School. The meetings will be held in Xadlno Clover pastures seeded last fall. Mr. Dobson will discuss all phases of pasture production. More acres will be seeded to permanent pas tures in Duplin County this' fall than any previous year according to present Indications. These meet ings will give Duplin farmers an opportunity to discuss pastures with a man who has become a spec ialist in this field. Every interested person is invited to attend one of these meetings. ' , Sweet Potato Demonstration: Mr. H. M. Covington, Extension Sweet Potato Specialist will be here for a sweet potato harvesting dem onstration next Tuesday afternoon Sept 20 at 2:30 P. M. This meeting will be held on the farm of Council Fussellr about 1 1-2 miles south of Brices Filling Station, which is 4 miles west of Rose H11L At this meeting farmers will see sweet po tatoes plowed up by different equip ment, including the Rotary Digger which is proving very satisfactory. Mr. Covington .will discuss all pha ses of - sweet potato production. Potatoes will , be actually graded and packed in the field, according to U. -S. . Standard grades, y This demonstration is in cooperation with the Rose Hill Vocational De partment Everyone interested in sweet potato production for home use or commercially is invited to this meeting. v Dairy Exhibit: Mr. Robert Southerland, Warsaw, N. C, who owns the first calf born as a result of the- breeding by the Coastal Artificial Breeding Assoc iation will have the. calf and its mother on exhibit, Sept 22, 23. 24, in connection with the Duplin County Bl-Centennlal Celebration. This calf was born July 5. These animals wiU be exhibited at the Pickett Stables in KenansviUe.. In formation on artificial breeding prepared by Dairy Specialist at State College will be on display along with the cattle. This exhibit should be of interest to Duplin Dairymen and others interested in the dairy improvement program. ," L. F.
