B. Sutton and Lena Mae a hostesses. In the absence of our president, Mrs. G. J. Sullivan, Mrs. B. M. Crawford presided. The minutes were read and roll called by the secretary, Mrs. Perry Sutton . A Missionary Project to help ed ucate a child overseas was started at our study class we had February 8th. There was $3.10 turned In at the meeting. Song, "How Firm A Foundation", was sung."A meditation on Faith" was read tor the devotional by Mrs. Percy Sutton. The program "The World Must Learn to Bead", was given as fol lows: Can You Read?" was given ko un n M Crawford. A paper, "New Responsibilities Created by Millions of New Readers," was giv en by Mrs. Allen Jordan. "What Shall They Read," was given by Mrs. Story McCullen. Mrs. G. B. Sutton gave, "The Best Books of All." During the social hour Lena Mae and Mrs. B. M. Crawford served a salad plate with hot chocolate to the seven members present. The March meeting will be held with Mrs. Allen Jordan. King's Church News We had a good attendance at Sunday School and a large crowd for preaching Sunday. There were a number of members from other churches in the congregation for the morning worship. We had as our guest speakers Mr. and Mrs. Burley Law, very close friends of Mr. and Mrs. Kln laur whn are to sail for Africa as missionaries the 7th of March. They told of the work that had been map nri out for them. We are wishing for them and their boys a safe journey over and our prayers will go with them in their new work. We have Prayer Meeting each Thiirsdnv niaht at the church at 7:30. You are welcome at all ser vices of King's Methodist Church. fioahen News A week's series of services closed Sunday night, Feb. 19th. at Goshen Methodist Church. Rev. Dennis Kinlaw, pastor, secured Dr. Fred Paschall of Laurinburg, who did the preaching. The entire Faison Charge attended the services. The Women's Society of Chris tian Service of Goshen Methodist Church met Monday night, Feb. 20th, in the home of Mrs. W. B. Sutton, with Mrs. D. B. Sutton and Mrs. Lena Mae McLamb as Joint hostesses. The meeting was called to order by President Mrs. Ira Sutton and the group sang the first verse of the theme song, "The Church's One Foundation, followed with prayer by Mrs. H. M. Daughtry. Business session was presided over by President Mrs. Ira Sut ton. Devotion was given by Spir itual Life leader, Mrs. J. M. Darden nn "Onenine the Book of Books", and the group sang, "We've A Story to Tell to the Nations". Mrs. I. R. Daughtry, program chairman, had charge of program topics, "World Must Learn to Read," and "Having the Bible Is Not Enough". Those assistlnc Mrs. Daughtry with the program were Mrs. Gil bert Sutton, Mrs. Hubbard Sutton and Mrs. O. W. Darden. Mrs. Dar den demonstrated, "How to Teach A Child to Read". Mrs Owen Suttoa. president of WSCS of Calypso Methodist Church was nresent and welcomed by Mrs. Ira Sutton and asked to say a. few words if she would. Society closed with prayer by Mrs. I. R. Daughtry and adjourned to meet in March with Mrs. Luby Boyett, after which refreshments were served by the hostesses. The M Y. He urged all school principals and county superintendents to plan a program of its observance by school children, in order that they may be taught to appreciate the true value of trees and forests in their State. Help was offered In carrying out a program. For schools planning such exer cises, the Forester suggested the following Arbor Day Program: 1. Opening songs; 2. Invocation or Scripture Reading; 3.
