Rale Thursday afternoon with Mrs. Hec tor McNeil presidinf orer the IS members present Purine business plans were discussed to promote a Bird sanctuary in Warsaw, and a committee appointed to visit the schools and explain the need for protection of birds. Meads roes H. L. Stevens and Joba Peiree' were appointed. Mesdames K. K. Wall and A. J. Jenkins were appointed to represent the Garden Club oa the Inter-Counsel of the Ctvica Club. A committee to recommend that no commercial signs be placed on Memorial Drive, the Model Mile, was appointed. This commit tee consisted of Mesdames B. P. Ewers. S. W. Msrriaer, and A. J. Jenkins. Mrs. Marriner was la charge 'of the program and presented Mrs. M. A. Smith, who spoke oa "Roses". During the social hour the hos tess served frosea fruit salad, sandwiches and coffee. Oa each plate was a miniature red rose eet sage in plastic container. The din ing table held a beautiful arrange men of red roses and was f1htd by white burning tapers. Kseta- nettes holding spring berries graced ine outlet. Hostesses for the next meeting will be Mesdames B. W. Stevens and E. C Thompson. LEGION CELER3ATES 31st ANNIVERSARY The Chas. R. Mrs. Stevens was also pres ent Messrs. J. C Page, J. T. Gres- ham and Judge West were called upon for impromptu speeches. Pianist for the evening' waa Miss Helen Brown. About 40 attended. FENNY BRANCH HDC The Penny Branch HDC met at the club house with Mesdames Da vid Sutton, James Sutton and Gra ham Register, hostesses. Mrs. Rob ert Davis presided. Mrs. Potter served glngersle, fruit salad, cookies, crackers and Mrs. George Clark entertained her club Thursday evening. Bowls of paaslea and ivy decorated the room. Mrs. Mormon Barr won hose for alga. Second high, an Old Spice set west to Mrs. Herman Holllngs worth. Traveling, stationery, went to Mrs. Arthur Cooke. .Upon arrival the hostess served a chicken salad plate and coffee. MRS. DELLA WEEKS Clinton. Mrs. Delia Daughtry Weeks, 70, wife of Johnnie Weeks, died at her home Saturday night following two weeks of Illness. Fu neral services were held from the Clinton Holiness Church at 4 pm. Monday with her pastor Rev. J. R. Williams officiating, assisted by Rev. O. T. Howard and Rev. Jer ome Hodges. Surviving In addition to her husband are three daugh ters, Mrs. Jim McCullen of near Clinton, Mrs. H. C Bunch of Clin ton snd Mrs. E. F. Strickland of Dunn; one brother, 8. X.
