Store IN WALLACE POLITICAL All NOUN CEMENT Continued TO THE VOTERS OF DUPLIN COUNTY I was taught as a boy to think for myself ; to seek the truth and have the courage to follow my convictions. Y ms.IwwI One of the basic reasons for which governments are esUbj is to keep the strong from oppressing me wean, ym , TTT . - . . . t a . 1 1.Am ' nnlial m "'Hist Til i ft 1 principles of he democratic rany, nas v ""rr" -r": all, special privileges to none. I have honestly tried to live up to the above while servine in the House of Representatives and it elected n i-i" : servinsr in the House ol uepresemain ; to the Senate will continue to do so. ; None are over-anxious to pay taxes. Butonly by taxation can the money be gotten to perform the functions and services we right fully expect from our government Taxes levied should be srn line with our wealth and income and the tax load should be distobuted according to ability to pay. Never should we fail to think through and see who really in the end pays every tax levied. Only by so doing can we be fair to all the people. The low income folks whp toil and sweat at the least desirable jobs earn and pay in the end taxes they never get credit for by many who howl about paying taxes they only pay in part and the rest is passed on to others. Just as the paying of taxes is of much concern to all of us; so is '' J the spending of our tax money important to every one. Our revenue should be so spent as to give service and opportunity to all The record shows that I supported legislation to improve our schools and roads and for State Aid to the poorer counties in many ways badly iAedJ' X- :. V;v:'' . ' . , , I voted in the Committee on Roads to increase the amount ot ? money to be used on city streets. Some of the streets in our towns . "i have been neglected just about the same as some of our county roads. , The motor vehicle inspection law was introduced in the Sen- r ate and passed without one single vote against it there. In the House 38 voted against it on the roll call which tested our-position oil it 'I was'bne of the 38. -.V; , r I voted against raising the Superior Court Judge's salaries and expense allowance from $9,000.00 to $12,500.00 and some other raises in the same class. But, I passed a bill to pay the jurors in , Duplin County mileage for each day they serve in place of just one round trip for any number of days they have to serve at one timel v -. I returned to the people of Duplin County the right to elect our r County Judge and Solicitor by their own vote.- ri-4 ' I voted for a state wide referendum on the liquor question in the v 47 and 49 Sessions and have not changed my position on that and Will take the same stand if elected in the next one. , ; ; . v V' I haven't any apologies for the local bills introduced as it seem- ed only the democratic tiling to do as some other towns had been given the privilege. If the people in the towns of Duplin are not capable of experimenting with the liquor problem then we are in a bad way indeed. .... We find rotation pays on the farm and I think it is time for a change in the office of Senator. ! It has been impossible for me to get out and see the voters hi. the county as I would like to, so I am calling on you through this paid announcement to fairly consider my candidacy. v Come on friends and let s do a little rotating in me cu.ee ior 4 '- -: t."
