The living room was attractively with glads and other summer flowers. Mrs. Jasper Smith was awarded prize for club high, Mrs. D. W. F. W. and its Auxiliary which was held at the hut Friday night. June 30. A good crowd attended and several new auxiliary members were added to the roll. Commander George Tur ner presided. Graham Turner gave a report on the convention held at Hendersonville early last month. ACCIDENT Bobby Williamson, young son of Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Williamson of Pink Hill, fell from a board into the mill race at Maxwell's Mill Sunday afternoon and received serious bruises' about his face, which struck some brick. H. D. Maxwell rendered first aid and he is now getting along nicely. PERSONALS A regular meeting of the VFW Auxiliary scheduled for July 3, was called off because of the death of Mrs. Annie Jones but a special meeting is expected to be held later in the month. Mrs. H. E. Maxwell was a recent i guest of her son, Mr. Lyleton Max well and Mrs. Maxwell in Winston- Salem. Mrs. N. C. Davis was a recent visitor in Calypso and Rose Hill. Tatum took place Tuesday evening, June 15, in the Betsy Cheek Chapel of the First Baptist Church in Durham. The Rev. John Knight officiated at the double ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur McR. Grady of Seven Springs, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Tatum of Durham. Jones Dies At Pink Hill i Mrs. Annie Carr Jones, 88 widow of William Aretus Jones died at 8 p.m. Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. T. A.. Turner at Pink Hill, where she had made her residence for several years. Funeral services were held from the resi dnce at 3 p.m. Tuesday with in terment in a nearby family cemer tery. Rev. N. P. Farrior, Presby terian, minister of Pink Hill offi ciated. Mrs. Jones was a daughter of the late William B. and Mary Hansley Carr of Duplin County. Mrs. Jones was a woman of many : fine traits of character. She was one of the most active workers in her church until her health failed. During all her sickness she never uttered a word of complaint. Surviving are one sop, J. Melvin Jones of Pink Hill, member of the County Board of Edupation; two daughters, Mrs. Turner of Pink Hill and Miss Connor Jones of Washington, D. C; a step daughter Mrs. E. K. Davis of Pink Hill; three stepsons, Charles Jones of La Grange, J. L. Jones of Brunswick, Ga., and E. S. Jones of Pink Hill, Rt. 1; a sister, Mrs. J. L. Jones of Brunswick, Ga.; six grandchildren, including Mrs. J. Frank Parrott, Jr., of Kinston, and 12 great- grand children. Harper Southerland News Church services will be held on Sunday night at 7.
