After swimming guests en Joyed a fish stew. CHURCH CIRCLES Circle No. 1 met with Mrs. N. B. Boney Monday afternoon. Mrs. W. J. Pickett presided over the busi ness session. Mrs. Sam Newton led the Bible study, subject, "Psalms 6T David." At the conclusion the hostess served assorted cookies and strawberry acid. Circle No. 2 met Monday night in the home of Mrs. Vance Gavin who led the Bible study. Mrs. Jack Sitterson had charge of the pro gram which was studies of famous paintings. At the close the hostess served nuts, cookies and drinks. The Ella Cooper Circle met on Monday night with Mrs. F. W. McGowen. Mrs. Henry West pre sided. Mrs. McGowen had charge of the program. ANNOUNCE BIRTH" Mr. and Mrs. Amos Q. Brinson announce the birth of a son, Amos Qf. Jr. on July 10th. Weight, seven pounds and ten ounces. Mrs. Brin son is the former Miss Edna Earle Edgerton. ANNOUNCE WEDDING The marriage of Mrs. Ella Qr Smith of Kenansville to Mr. Paul Byrd, also of Kenansville took place on Saturday, June 10th at 8 p.m. in Bennetsvllle, S. C. Mr O. P. Johnson attended the superintendents meeting in Chapel Hill last week. Mr. R. V. Wells attended the Clerks Convention in Charlotte last week. Mrs Rrh Svkes is a patient at James Walker Memorial Hospital in Wilmington. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Patterson and Yvonne visited Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Rivenbark in Wallace on Sunday. Miss Theo Hollingsworth has re turned home after spending several weeks with Lt. and Mrs. Alton Payne in Falls Church, Va. Mrs. Payne and children accompanied her home for a week's visit. MesHames G. Holiday Wrecks Analysis Given Raleigh An analysis of, the 14 accidents in which 23 persons were killed over the Fourth of July week end revealed eight causes for the mishaps, the Department of Motor Vehicles reported today. They were: speeding, careless and reckless driving, driving on the wrong side of the road, driving under the Influence of Intoxicants, walking under the influence of in toxicants, walking carelessly, me chanical failure and hit and run. '. No accidents occurred on July 4 Itself. Twenty persons were kill ed in the first two and one-half days of the holiday and three died on July 3, one of the of earlier in juries. Four accidents occurred during daylight hours and 10 at night None of the accidents could be attributed to weather conditions. Grif fin of Woodland, who announce her en gagement to Walter Gay Wells, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Wells of Wallace. The wedding will take place in September. Onslow County or farther west than Alleghany and Mecklenberg. Only one out-of-State person was killed. Three of the persons killed were pedestrians, 13 were passengers in autos, one a passenger on a motor cycle, carrying three people, and six were drivers. Six persons died in one accident, three in one and two in each of two accidents. The remainder accounted for single fatalities. Nine fatal wrecks Involved one vehicle; four, two vehicles; one, three vehicles. The girls will model 32 cotton outfits some featuring even hats, shoes and luggage made from cotton. Miss McGee was selected 1950 Maid of Cotton In Memphis, Tenn. last January 3. Two days after her selection she flew to New York where her all-cotton wardrobe was assembled. Since February she has been appearing at civic centers and leading department stores through out the country. In March her travels took her to England and on to Paris where she visited world famous dress designers. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom McGee of 561 East Main Street in Spartanburg.
