But she lingers in our hearts. Bess Hinson Hines. SCOUT PARTY The local Girl Scouts celebrated the 11th birthday of the Girl Scout Troop here at the lodge building Saturday night, July 22nd. The scout colors of green and yellow were used In yellow flow ers and green candles. Decoration committee was composed of Bar bara Mitchell, Marjorie Jones and Rebecca Grady. Mrs. N. B. Boney assisted by Rev. J. T. Hayter led games. After a number of folk dances and games, refreshments were served. Mrs. W. M. Ingram cut the birthday cake assisted by Mrs. P. J. Dobson. Lime punch was served by Mrs.E. A. Newton assisted by Mrs. Boney Thirty boys and girls were present. AUXILIARY MEETS The Woman's Auxiliary of Grove Presbyterian Church met Monday afternoon with Mrs. G. V. Good ing. President Mrs. J. A. Gavin presided. Mrs. L. Southerland led the devotional. Mrs. Gooding had charge of the program, "Putting Christianity To Work In Our Com munity". Special music was, ren dered by Mesdames V. H. Reynolds and Ralph 'Brown accompanied at the piano by Mrs. N. BROWNIE PICNIC On Saturday afternoon July 22 Emory Sadler was honored at a birthday party given by his mother. After a number of games the guests were served ice cream, cake and punch. Later the group was taken to the theatre for a movie. BROWNIE SCOUTS Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock members -of the Brownie Scouts met with Mrs. V .H. Reynolds for a trip to Laurel Lake on a picnic. They were accompanied by Mes dames Reynolds, John Currie, El more Bell and G. V. Gooding. PERSONALS Dr. and Mrs. Beecher W. Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Brinson and Woody spent Sunday In "Cove City with the Percy Blantons. Mrs. H. D. Sloan Dies Af Age 73 Mrs. Lula Pickett Sloan, 73, wife of H. D. The judge handed down the ruling in the case of Mrs. Mildred Lussow. 35. who is seeking divorce from her husband Emit, 40, when Mrs. Lussow complained that a previous ruling arrangement that she remain in the home as "house keeper" had failed to work out. Persons From 27 States See Lost Colony A check of the big free parking lot maintained by The Lost Colony, persons from 27 states saw a single performance of The Lost Colony last Saturday. Auto bearing license tags from across the nation, Calif ornia, Oregon and Washington were noted by park lot checkers. The largest number of cars were from North Carolina, but a close runner up was Virginia. A total of 1,465 persons witnessed the Saturday performance. LOST. COLONY'S ANNUAL NEGRO DAY BE OBSERVED Manteo, N. C. Dr. Alphonse Elder, one of America's outstanding Negro leaders and president of North Carolina College for Negroes in Durham, will be the principal speaker at the preliminaries to The Lost Colony's annual Negro Citizens' Day here at Waterside Theatre on Friday night July 21.
