Hurdle was master of ceremonies. , At 7 o'clock the 80 members and guests' marched ' Into the . lunch room and found their places which was marked with an attractively : wrapped gift, each bearing a lady's name. The men sang "Let Me Call You Sweetheart" as they presented their wives a corsage, All then joined in singing "America". , , Invocation wws given by Mr Russell Best , Mr." Paul Grlce was Birthday chairman and called the names of each member whose birthday is in the month of September, As they stood for recognition the assembly sang Happy Birthday". "The club pianist, Henry Korne gay, Jr. introduced .Miss. Mary Dell Sutton who sang two num bers 'Sweetheart of Sigma Chi," and "Look for, the Silver Lining" with Mrs. Leslie Summerlln as ac companist. The Ruitan Club is helping sponsor the Boy Scout work here and at this time Mr. H. B. Korne gay, Sr. gave some reports and in formation on the essentials tof Scouting. tu - Mr, B. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Taylor spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Roy Taylor, Jr. at Araphoe. MRS. J. H. BAKER DIES AT MAGNOLIA Mrs. Nellie Bradshaw Baker, 68, wife of J. H. Baker, died at her home in Magnolia Monday morn ing after an illness of several months. Funeral services were held -from the Magnolia Baptist Church Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock by the Rev. Royall, pastor, assisted by Rev. King D. Brown of Burgaw. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery. In addition to her husband she is survived by five sons, Jesse R. ot Magnolia, Atlas A and Joseph both of Norfolk, Va., Elbert of Washington, D. C. and Alvin of the Navy; four daughters, Mrs. C. A. Cavenaugh of Warsaw, Mrs. Tho mas H. Wilson and Mrs. Gordon Blackburn both of Magnolia, and ' Mrs. Robert Burns of New Jersey. Seventeen grandchildren and one great grandchild; two brothers, Marvin M. Bradshaw of Magnolia and Wentworth W. Bradshaw of Holly Ridge.
