the Silver Beaver award, director
of the North Carolina Railroad,
president of Chas. F. Cates & Sons,
Inc., director of the Branch Ban
ing and Trust Co., and by .other
means and activities further asso
ciated with the civil and economic
affairs of the County and State;

WHEREAS, he was a . man and
Mason recognized by all who knew
him for his .charity, devotion, and
good will towards all - mankind,
ever giving of bis time, efforts, and
material wealth to any and all
worthwhile causes; and ,':

No. 127, American Legion, loyal
and faithful to all -Its aims and ob
jects, and regular in his attend
ance all meetings; and :

Friday afternoon at her home with
Mrs. Adrian Dail assisting. Mrs.

business session Mrs. B. F. McCol
man of Faison, made some Interest
ing remarks about our outstanding
composers after which she played
several selections. During the social
hour the . hostesses served a fruit
salad plate with iced tea.

home gardner. A round table dis
cussion was held on "latest fash
ions". Mrs. Minnie Williamson
gave suggestions on planting and
caring for flowers and shrubs. A
demonstration on "Home Beautlfi
cation" was given by Miss Hilda
Clontz. Refreshments were served
during the social hour.v

and a 20-0 triumph over Faison
Calypso in an East Central Con
ference same.
Halfback Tom Hewitt put Jack-
sonville ahead in the third quarter
When be went over from the F-C
5-yard line, but the spectacular
run - and touchdown came - when
Fullback Don Swlnson broke thru
the F-C line and galloped 63 yards
to score. Hewitt added the extra
point. Quarterback Frank Godwin
completed the scoring when he
scored from the 8 and Hewitt ad
ded the extra point.
