cup and saucer set for high and
Mrs. Mitchell Britt won the slam
prize, ash trays.
' Coca colas and cornets were ser
ved during the game. At conclusion
; the hostess served Virginia fruit
cake and coffee.
BRIDGE HOSTESS
Thursday evening Mrs. George
Hopkins was hostess to her bridge
club with two tables in play. Pine
cones and leaves were used in dee-
orations. High score prize, figurines
went to Mrs Belton Minshew and
second high,? a kerchief, went to
H Mrs. Billy Whitfield. Mrs.; Forest
- Martin won handkerchiefs for trav
eUng. At the end of the second progres
sion the hostess served Xmas candy
tidbits and cokes. After the fourth
progression a chicken salad plate
with rita and coffee was served. -"

The Baptist Church of Warsaw
has. announced its plana for the
Christmas week. Members are re
quested to bring their gifts for the
White Christmas on Sunday morn
ing at Sunday School. The White
Christmas program will be held on
Wednesday night at 7:30 pjn. At
this time a pageant, "The Message
of the Christmas Candles", will be
presented. Friday evening of the
22nd' the young people will carol

Dodge "Job-Rated" trucks to drive
in the spirited contest for national

ships awarded In the straight truck,
the tractor single-axle seml-traller
and the tractor tandem-axle semi
trailer classes were won by drivers
of Dodge trucks.
' Richard Wold,- of Minneapolis,
drove a Dodge GA-152 UW-ton)
truck to win first place and the na
tional title in the straight truck
event R. D. Wallace, of Charlotte,
N. C, drove the same truck to win
third in that event . ;
All three places in the tractor
tandem-axle semi-trailer event
were won by drivers who drove' a
Dodge YA-142 (4-ton) truck. O. E,
Chapman, of Denver, - won first
place and the national title, Robert
Rudesill, of Minneapolis, won sec
ond, and Harry W. Pollock, of Bal
timore, won third. - '
Frank Kirkpatrlck, of Portland,
drove a Dodge JA-128 (2V-ton)
truck to win third in the tractor
single-axle semi-trailer event. , j
Twenty-one state champions who
had won their titles In state elimi
nations while driving other makes
of trucks switched to Dodge In the
national finals. Their decisions were
made after they drove Dodge trucks
on a New York practice course. Ten
manufacturers offered trucks for
the 86 contestants in the national
finals. Thus more champions chose
Dodge than all other makes com-s;
blned,

Mrs. Mittle Loftln Kornegay, 80,
native Of Duplin County, but a res
ident of Rocky Mount for the last
three years, died Thursday night at
the home of her daughter, Mrs. W.
B. Middleton in Rocky Mount She
had suffered ill health for the last
three years and had left her home
here to live with her daughter
there. She was the widow of the
late J. A. Kornegay, who died many
years ago. Funeral services were
conducted from the residence at
11:30 a.m. Saturday by Dr., J. W.
Kincheloe, pastor, of the First Bap-USfChurl-.
