will begin early in January and
run for a month or six weeks. He
added that this is the first , such

', "Deliveries on 1947 tobacco taken
under loan were completed about
10 days ago. The $,195,416.15 rep
resents approximately 5Vi of the
amount paid for the tobacco when
received by the corporation," he
aid.
Weeks said distribution will be
made on a dollar-value basis of
tobacco received by the corpora
tion. Due to address changes, he
said, many checks will probably be
returned, so all growers who have
had an address change since 1947
are urged to notify the Stabiliza
tion Corporation, 522 Fayetteville
Street, Raleigh, N. C, to assure re
ceipt of their check.
The General Manager said a
statement of 1947 crop loan opera
tions, showing total amounts of
money involved, and a letter with
general Information about the cor
poration will accompany the checks.
"In addition," Weeks said, "new
plastic identification Card? will be
sent to growers to replace those
issued whea, the producers paij
their S5.00 membership fee and
received a certificate for one share
of common stock. The new card
will prove more serviceable and all

Achievement Day.
Observed Warsaw
1 The Annual 4 H Achievement
Day was held at the Douglass High
School in Warsaw, Thursday of last
week with all 13 clubs represented
and some 730 members attending.
Mr.; J. E. Belton, Principal of Du
plin Training School was guest
speaker. He reviewed the history
of the 4-H club, its objectives and
its program and pointed out practi
cal ways in which club work en
riches the lives of rural girls and
boys. Aside from his school matters
Mr. Belton has been energetic and
aggressive in community life.
Each club placed educational
exhibits, with Faison, Magnolia and
Warsaw Senior club, taking top
honors, Calypso and Little Creek
Junior clubs made up second place
winners, while Wallace, Chinqua
pin, Rose Hill, Beulaville, Branch,
Warsaw Junior, Kenansvllle and
Teachey comprised third place win
ners.
Individual prizes for county
championship projects were; a calf,
Alex L. Judge of Chinquapin;
sweet potatoes, Robert Smith, Rose
Hill; and corn, Ben Miller, Kenans-
