Slate College Hints
To Home Makers
The velvets, velveteens and cor
duroys, ibeing worn so much this
year, need special treatment to
keep their fresh appearance and
wear well, say clothing specialists.
Velvet, whether silk or rayon, is
a more delicate fabric than cotton
velveteen or corduroy, and marks
or crushes more easily, especially
when damp. Dry cleaning rather
than washing is recommended for
velvet Many corduroys and some
velveteens may be washed at home,
but is safest to test a sample in
advance to see if it is fast in color
or shrinks.
Steaming velvet is the easiest
way to smooth wrinkles and lift
crushed places. Hang the garment
on a hanger in a steaming bath-
ference by dropping a close deci
sion to the Wallace All Stars, 29
to 26, in the Kenan, Auditorium.
The visitors from Wallace took an
early lead and led throughout the
entire game. At half time Wallace
was leading 16 to 8, but the locals
came back in the second half to
outscore and outplay the visitors.
With two minutes to play and the
vlsitora leading 29 to 20, the local
five showed that they were still in
the game and scored tlx points
while keeping the visitors score
less... '-' '; I
Brackett with 12 points took scor
lng honors for the visitors and also
for the game. JJ. B. Boney, Jr,
with 8 points and H. Hasty with d
points were the Kenansville lead
ers. Harry Murphy, a local guard,
was outstanding on defense and was
a ballhawk all night .
The lienansvllle team meets Fai
son at Falson Friday night of this
week.
