Stroud, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lonnle Stroud of Pink Hill, having returned from Korea where he was a member of the 314th Combat Cargo Wing Of the Far East Air Torce Combat Cargo Cpmmand, has een recalled from ths enlisted orade of master sergeant to active duty as a cap tain in the United States Air Force, it was announced today by Col. N. H. ;Van Sickle,' Wing Base Com mander at Sewart Air Force Base. Priorto his recall, Captain Stroud was first sergeant for the 5th Troop Carrier Squadron at Sewart. In August of last year he went with the Squadron in that capacity when It waa placed on temporary, duty with the Combat Cargo Command to set up the Korean airlift. Cap tain Stroud, who is married to the former Adeline -Winkler of Green Bay, Wis., has been reassigned to Lawson' Air Force Base where he will perform duties' of a classifi cation and aslgnment officer. .; V Completes Course At Law School Mr. John Harvey Turner of Pink Hill has recently completed his course In law at the .University of North Carolina and will receive his diploma with the graduating class in the closing exercises this spring. On Birthday , Mr. Egbert Grady of Pink Hill entertained his wife on her birth day, Sunday, Jan. 28, at their home. The home was decorated through out with an arrangement of early spring flowers. Hud son at Wilmington Thursday after noon. Mr. Hudson who was injured in an auto wreck Monday night died late Tuesday., Mrs. Hudson who was also injured in the wreck is receiving treatment at the Hen- derson-Crumpler Clinic In Mount Olive. Hussey Gets Promotion Word has been received from Camp Drake, Tokyo, Japan, that 1st Lt. Harold S. Hussey has been promoted to Captain- as of Decem ber 30, 1950, "Capt. Hussey is a veteran of World War II. He served with the 35th Inf. Dlv. In Tunesla and Italy; was awarded the Bronze Star, the Combat Inf. Badge, and has a com mendation from the Commanding General for excellent performance of duties with the Allied Military Government In Naples, where ha served as Judge, helping reorga nize the Judicial system there. He is a native son of Lenoir Co., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Hus sey. He Is married and has on daughter. His home Is in Hender sonvllle, N.
