Johnnie Smith, 52, fanner of
Pink Hill died at his home Satur
day morning, runeral lervices were
held from the home Sunday at S

family cemetery. Surviving are his ,
wife, the former Johnnie Agnes
Smith; f- two daughters, Mrs.. Ray
mond Suss of Portsmouth, Vs., and
Nellie Jevone Smith of the home;
four sons, Gracen, Leland, ' Earl,
and Graham Smith, all of Pink
Hill, B. F. Smith of Mt Olive; his
mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Smith of
Pink Hill; three brothers, Paul J.
of Bocky Mount, C. G. of Hume
ville, Pa., and Alvln Smith of Pink
Hill; two sisters, Mrs. J. R. Smith
of Pink Hill, and Mrs. .Roland J.
Smith of Kinston. ' :

Episcopal Church officiated. Miss
Hyatt ' . attended local , private
schools, the Kinsey Institute at La
Grange, Notre Dame School in Bal
timore, Md., Columbia University
and a number of summer sessions
at the University of North Caro
lina. She taught school for several
years before entering research
work for Caswell Training School
here,' where she worked for some
time. She was one of the founders
