William Sweetman Blizzard, 73,
prominent farmer of Pink Hill HIU
Rt. 1, died to a Kinston hospital
at S a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21 after
a short illness. Surviving are his
wife, Mrs. Kttu Harper, Blizzard;
five sons, Robert, oy. Coy, Henry
and Jesse, all of Pink Hill Rt 1;
two daughters, Mrs. H. L. Mills
and Rachel Blizzard both of the
home; one stepson, Charles Brown
of Rt 1, Pink Hill; five grandchild
ren and four slaters, Mrs. Fannie
Howard, Mrs. M. C. Howard, Mrs.
Bertie Howard, all of Pink Hill,
and Mrs. Tommle Smith of Rich
lands. The funeral was held from
the home at S p.m. Thursday, con
ducted by Rev. Mr. Coates, pastor
of Christian Chapel Free Will Bap
tist Church of which Mr. Blizzard
was a member , for many years.
Burial was In the family cemetery
near the borne, ,

Mr. W. H. Jones was in Kinston
Tuesday night where, with his as
sistant Mr.; L. B. Jenkins of the
Jenkins-Jones Motor Company, be
attended a dinner at Hotel Kins
ton at which time the company re-"
ceived an award honoring it as a
"four-letter dealer" of the Ford
Division of Ford Motor Company.
They were presented a plaque by
Emersoi Planck, manager- of the
Norfolk division of the firm., It

Egbert Davis Is V..
Fatally Injured
Egbert Davis, 53. of near Moss
Hill in Lenoir County, died in a
Kinston hospital from shock about
9:15 pjn. Sunday after being hit
by a motorcycle while walking
across the road in . front of his
borne shortly after noon. ".
Operating the - motorcycle was
Edward W. Holmes, 35, of Mount
Olive, Rt. VMr'rii -.: .''
. A car in which Davis was riding
stopped in front of his home about
two miles west of Moss Hill on bi
way 65 on the right side of the
road. He got out and walked from
behind the car into the path of
the motorcycle, which was coming
in the opposite direction. Holmes
said he did not see Davis in time to
avoM bitting him. ' - v ! 1
Holmes was thrown from the
motorcycle but was not badly hurt
Davis suffered compound frac
tures of both arms and legs and
other Injuries. Hospital attendant
listed the cause of death as shock.
' Davis was a son of Mrs. Effie
Hardy Davis and the late William
M. Davis of Moss Hill. He was a
member of Holy Innocents Epis
copal Church and the Woodmen of

The funeral was held! from Gar
ner's Funeral Home In Kinston at
2:30 p.m. Tuesday with Interment
in the family cemetery at Union
Baptist Church near , Moss Hill,
Rev. Jack Rountree, rector of Holy
Innocents - Church officiated, as
sisted by (Rev. Clifton Rice, Kinston
Free Will Baptist minister.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs.
Naomi Tyndall Davis of the home;
three sons, Edward E. Davis of
Seven Springs, L. Vernon and Wil
liam H. Davis of the borne; one
daughter, Mrs. L. F. Hester of Hop
Mills; six grandchildren; four bro
thers, W. Loftln Davis of Kinston,
E. R., James A., and Robert Mose
ley Davis of the Moss Hill section;
three sisters, Mrs. Jack Whitfield,
Mrs. Paul Jones and Miss Julia K.
Davis, all of Moss Hill.
Mr. Davis has wide family con
nections in Pink Hill and Duplin
County. ?;

in Pink Hill attended a meeting of
Frigldalre appliance ' dealers in
Raleigh last Friday. While there
he saw the new model Frigldalre
refrigerators and ranges, Mr. Miles
said shipment of the new models
will begin arriving next week. .

It was a sad ending to the per
fect record of the Pink Hill girls
basketball team when they tost to
the Wheat Swamp girl in the fi
nal round of the Lenoir County
Tournament held at Pink Hill the
latter half of last week. The Pink
Hill girl had won every county
game up until Saturday night
when they met Wheat Swamp and
were defeated by a narrow margin.
Lumber Company
Wrenn Bros.' Lumber Co, of Slier
City, N. C. who already have one
lumber mill operating en the Ke
ns nsville road a mile out of Pink
Hill, started Monday Installing ma
chinery for another of about the
same capacity adjacent to the one
already in operation. Manager
Seth B. King says that timber
purchases so tar, have been very
satisfactory and that he sees no
reason why the firm can't operate
in the vicinity for a good many
years to come. Much of the lum
ber is sold on the yard and a great
deal is shipped back to the Slier
City plant
