THOMPSON The Warsaw Garden Club met Wednesday afternoon at. the home of Mrs. Paul Potter. Mrs. Hector McNeil presided over business. New members received into the club were Mesdames Paul Berry, Daulton West and Miss Sallle Bow den. Visitors for the afternoon were Mesdames L. S. Whittle, J. T. Gres ham, and Walter Bridges. It was announced that Mesdames E. P. Ewers, E. C. Thompson, Hec tor MceNll and Sterling Marriner were to attend the Judges' School on Flower Arrangement held in Fayettcville, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. x Mrs. Thompson brought the pro gram and spoke on "Altar Arrange ments". At the conclusion a com mittee was named for each church in Warsaw to arrange flowers for Easter Sunday. Prizes for the best arrangements went to Mesdames Thompson and E. P. Ewers. Mrs. Thompson's, contribution Was pla ced on the table in the living room and Mrs. Ewers' arrangement was used in the dining room. The hos tess served fruit salad on lettuce, sandwiches, cookies and tea. JR. FELLOWSHIP B P W MEETS Further plans for the district meeting of the BPW to be held in Warsaw on April 8 were discussed Monday evening as the 'club met at FusselTs Restaurant for its regu lar monthly assembly. Committees were announced to assume respon sibility for the meeting to which this club will be hostess. Mrs. Alton Greenlaw said grace before dinner and Mrs. J. P. Har mon preside, and read a letter from the stale president as to what is expected of B&PW members. Mr. Avon Sharpe presented the program and read a pamphlet from the Civilian Defense Organization in Rale.gh. - The following committee to nom inate ott'icers for the ensuing year waa named as follows: Mesdames Glenn Rollins, Grace Vann and D. L, Carfton. A good attendance was enjoyed. KITE CONTEST BY 'The Junior Fellowship of the Predoyterian Church sponsored a kite contest Thursday afternoon at the farm of Ellie West near War saw. About 29 young people par ticipated. Tying for first pJace were Jay Kornegay and Walker Stevens, Jr., They received baseball bats for prizes. Dallas Hollingsworth won free movie pass for second piace and tnird places went to Fred Baars, Jr., and Judy Standi. They received kites.- Judges were selected from Warsaw.., . . Mrs. Forest Martin Is Bridge Hostess ,. On Thursday evening Mrs. For est Martin was hostess to members and guests at a regular bridge ses sion at her home. Japanese quince and jonquils were used in decora tions. C-ub high, a pair of novelty uses, went to Mrs. Irene Martin. Mrs. Billy Whitfield received a air of vases also for visitor's high. Mrs. Belton Mlnshew received a iemi tasse set for traveling. Potato chips and iced drinks were enjoyed during the game and when scores were tallied pear sal id ritz and coffee were served. Mrs. N. A. Mitchell Entertains Club Mrs. N. A. Mitchell received club members and additional guests on Thursday afternoon when she was hostess to her bridge club. Spring flowers, enhanced with gold can dles decorated the rooms. Upon ar rival banana splits were served and during games drinks and mints were passed. Mrs. J. P. Harmon won a fostoria vase for high and for low Mrs. Wilbur Garner re ceived pair of plastic nut bowls.
