Mrs. Robert West of Warsaw spoke on behalf of -the club and thanked Mrs. ' Annie Thelma Harmon for her splendid . , work In directing the plans for the ' recent district meeting held In War saw. This was followed by an ovat ion by the club. Mrs. Harmon Is club president and Mrs. West is former president. During the business hour It was decided that the club donate a con trtbutlon to the home project, which , is for the purpose of building borne for retired business women. Ewers questioned those , partici pant on the program. Mrs. Paul Potter responded to questions on peonies, Mrs. Sterling Marriner to lilacs and Mrs. Brown to holly. Those failing to answer questions correctly were required to deposit a dime in the treasury. It was announced that the garden club would be responsible for flow ers placed in the Methodist, Bap tist and Presbyterian churches on Mother Day. Mrs. Hector McNeil gave the first book "Iris For Every Garden", beginning the "Garden Club Shelf" for the Warsaw Public library. Other members will also do nate other books towards this pro ject Invited guests for the afternoon were Mesdames E. D. Pollock, L. S. Whittle, Allen Draughan Jr., Glenn Brown and J. C. Surratt Sr. . Mrs. Draughan served frozen fruit salad and tea. Baptismal Service To Be Sunday Night On Sunday evening at eight o' clock there will be a Baptishal ser vice at the Baptist Church in War saw. There are 99 awaiting baptism uom the Warsaw and Johnson chur Methodists Have Pie and Cake Sale The Circle of the Methodist Church of Warsaw will have a pie and ake sale Saturday morning at nine o'clock at Packer's Grocery. Come out and make this a success like it was last Saturday. Junior Music Club Met Wednesday The' Warsaw Junior Music Club metWednesday at the home of Mrs W. J. Middleton Jr. The meeting opened with the group singing three hymns which are to be played at the hymn-playing contest May 4th. Mrs. Belton Minshew Hostess At Bridge ' Mrs. Belton Minshew was hos tess on Thursday evening when she entertained at two tables of bridge at her home on College Street. The home was lavishly decorated with dogwood, yellow Jasmins, wild plu spires and pansles. Each guest re ceived a miniature pansy corsage with tally. ' Upon arrival Mrs. Minshew ser ved fruit Jello, toped with cream, angel food cake and' limeade. Dur ing progressions hot popcorn, che ese wafers and coca colas were en- Joyed. For club high Mrs. Emerson Jones won an azalea. She received a pair of scuff for' traveling. Mrs. Barr also received an azalea for vi sitor's high. Playing were Mes dames Jones, Barr, Irene Martin, J. D. Davis, Bonnie Thomas, F. L. Torrans, Miss Mamie Bethea and the hostess. ' Engagement Announced Mr W. M. Bowen of Warsaw announce the engagement of her daughter, Mable B. Waters to Mr, Rom Frederik Wadkins, both of Wa rsaw. The wedding will take place on Saturday May 10th in the Bow en home. Bridge Club Meets With Mrs. John Fonville On Friday evening Mrs John Fon ville entertained members of her bridge club and visitors, Mesdames Avon Sharpe and Edward stncK land, at a session of contract bridge at her home. Pansles, dogwood, iris and tulips were used in attractive arrangem ents providing a setting for the ga me Club high, a novelty spoon rest, went to Mrs Mitchell Britt. Mrs Strickland won visitor's high, a mlnature salt and pepper set and salad dressing dish, for traveling she reelved note paper. Warsaw P. T. A Met Tuesday Night . Mrs. Kathleen Snlder's Home Economics Department -presented a Fashion show as progam for the last meeting of the Warsaw PTA for this year. She was introduced by Mrs. J. W. Farrior, program chairman. A skit depictinrThe Old Women that Lived in the Shoe was , given displaying apparel that had been made by the class during the year. , Mrs. G.S. Best presented the devotional, her subjuot being on "Faith" and read from tne 38th Pcalm. The treasurer's report show that the PTA had contributed $927.00 toward school projectts for the year. $208.20 went toward the the Free Lunch program., Professor J. P. Harmon expressed thank for what the organization had contrid- uted toward the fund. . " Miss Virginia Easleys ninth grade and Mis Maggie Bowden' first grade tied for the room count prize. Each recieved a check for $2.50. At the close of the business meet ing new offers for the coming year were installed by the retiring pres ident, Mrs. H.J. Mcgee, Vice-President; and Mrs. Stacy Britt, Treas urer. , (Mrs. Phillips spoke of the fine work that Mrs. Hipp had done and stated that in the two years of her orealdency she had not missed a meeting. She received a rising vote of appreciation. The lunchroom committee for the following year was appointed as follows: Mesdames N. A. Mitchell, Edgar Pollock, D. L. Carlton and Principal J. P. Harmon. About 200 interested Da rents ana patrons attended. Iced coca colas were served at conclusion ot tne meeting. Personals Marina Blackmore, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Blackmore, re turned from Dr. Sidbury's Hospital on Saturday where she had under gone a tonsilectomy. She was ac companied by her parents, bne is doing nicely. Mr. and Mrs Raymond arrow and children of Masonboro visited in the home of Mr .and Mrs. W.R. Blackmore on Sunday. Mesdames Wilbur Garner and N. A. Mitchell visited Mrs. A. O. Davis in McPherson's Hospital in Durham on Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Milton west ano sons attended the Ice Cycles in Ra leigh Friday night. Mrs. Stacy Britt is a patient in James Walker hospital. She under went a major operation on Wednes day of this week.
