He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the university.,, ,, Wild Onion Milk Costs Dairymen Dairymen lose thousands of dol lars annually through failure to keep wild onion flavor out of milk, according to A. C. Klmrey, dairy specialist with the State College Extension Service, .v , To avoid losses through rejec tion of milk, Tar Heel dairymen are being urged to keep cows off wild onion Infested pastures for at least six hours before milk ing. The- best way to overcome this trouble is to keep cows off the onions entirely. One good prac tice is to gnaze onion Infested fields with dry cows and young cattle. : Most dairymen in Piedmont and eastern counties, however, will be forced to use such pastures. '29, N. C. 31, and Dixie 17. 8. Blue Mold This tobacco plant disease was found In plant beds In Columbus County several days ago. ,two weeks earlier than it has ever been found in North Carolina. Don't 'let it slip up on you, get your sprayer or duster ready and start applying Dlthane or lermate when plants are the size of a dime or earlier if Blue Mold appears in your community. Fertilize Pastures: It is now tame to fertilize permanent pas tures. An annual application of 400 to 600 pounds of 0-0-27, or 0-10-20 should be applied oa estab lished pastures. . ; 8. Tobacco Barn Construction A tobacco barn construction dem onstration will be held on i. B. Stroud's Farm about 4 miles south of Kenansvllle on March 28. Mr. R. N. Ritchie, Extension Agricultur al Engineer from State College will build and install an Oxford type ventilation on top of a new barn. These ventilators can be put on old barns too, they save a lot of fuel in curing tobacco and are not expen sive. Come to Mr. Stroud's Farm at 8:00 P. M. on March 23 and see this demonstration. kia V.
