Starting Date For
Old Age Insurance
Is Important
The new starting date for figur
ing old-age and survivors insurance
benefit payments is important to
everyone now employed or self
employed in work covered by so
cial security.
In explanation of this statement.
Mr. N. A. Avera, manager of the
Wilmington social security office.
points out th:t work after 1950 can
be used alone for figuring the
amount of the benefit payment.
Everyone who has been in work
covered by social security contin
uously since January 1, 1951. will
be full insured by the middle of
the present year. If he reaches
age 65 and decides to retire, he
will be eligible for old-age -enc-1
fit payments; if he should die f-,
ter a year and a half of covered
work after 1950, his survivors can
get benefit payments. He and
his family will have this insurance
protection until July 1954. They
will continue to have this protec
tion if he stays in covered w"k
of both the employed and self-employed
insured person to defer fil
ing a claim until January, 1053. ,
