F, Grady Home Demonstration Club is proud to endorse as candidate for 'Register, of Deeds of Duplin County one of our own members, Mrs. Christine W Williams. We are going to call her Christine in 'this letter to you because it is a friendly letter from club members to fellow club members. . The efficient manner in which Christine has served her county and community in the past is highly commendable. She has held off ices of honor in our local -civic organizations, the P.T.A;, Home Demonstration Club, Cub Scouts, the. County Federation of Home Demonstration Clubs, the Order of The Eastern Star ' and her Church. ' Her. excellent work rendered in.tli Duplin County A.AA! Club a Upon the persuasion of many people, I filed as a candidate for the office of register of deeds of Duplin County. My experience in working and my sincere love for the people of Duplin County assure me that if I am elected that I shall enjoy the work and pledge tocairy on the office in the same efficient manner that' has been characteristic of it in the past. I was born at Magnolia, October, 1915, the daughter of Mack J. and Jeanette T. Whaley. While I was an infant my family moved to Chinquapin and lived until I was 6 years old when we moved to a farm two miles from Kenansville where I lived until my marriage 14 years ago. I was raised on a farm and still live on one.j, I finished High School with the Kenansville Class of '32 when farm prices were at a low ebb, worked out in tobacco at 75c a day and paid for tuition for a business course which I took through correspondence. When the first "Tobacco contracts" were signed in our couritjftl "began working in the county farm office and had thg pleajsure of serving the farm people as chief cleric from 1933 to 1942. During this time I developed a real love for serving the people of Duplin. we have 2 boys, 7 and 9 years old. Durine the war when Lehman worked in the Wilmington shipyard, I lid part time volunteer work in the office of the Area Army Filter & Information Center in Wilmingtpn and worked one season in the office of Carolina Income Tax Service there. After, the war was over and we moved back to Smith's township I worked at intervals in several counties in eastern North Carolina collecting farm price in formation for the Institute of Statistics at State Col lege. I served for a time as substitute" mail carrier on Pink Hill, R.F.D. No. 2. I recently made a study for The School of Public Health at Chapel Hgl over a year's period in Duplin County on piactides young mothers are using in rearing their small children. I served with the 1950 Census as Crew "Leader in Duplin and worked 6 weeks in the District Census Of fice in Goidsboro. In June, 1950, 1 accept jmypjsent position as office manager for Turner & Turner In surance Agency in Pink Hill and am under agreement to work here until the fall.I HAVE THE GOOD-WISHES OF MY FINE PRESENT EMPLOYERS IN THIS ENDEAVOR; BUT IN ORDER TO BE FAIR TO THKM IN THEIR BUSIEST SEASON OF THE YEAR I WILL HAVE ALMOST NO TIMEAWaLL TO DEVOTE TO SOLICITING VOTES FAfD WILL HAVE TO COUNT ENTIRELY ON THE? PEOPLE WHO KNOW ME TO USE THEIR INFLUENCE BY .SPEAKING A GOOD WORD TO OTHERS.
