My friend assured me tnat Mrs. X. was a slovenly and common per son, a discredit to any neighbor hood. She told me that Mrs. Z. was Foesipy. lazy and irresponsible. When my friend spoke of either of them ,it was with a condescending manner xor as ene aeciarea, sn bad no use for .that class of people. ,-So it was that when I eventually became acquainted with both of these women, I received a most pleasant surprise. . Mrs. X was the overworked mother of & brood of five, out -she would nevertheless stop and bake a cake for you if yours had burned just when you were expecting company. I found Mrs. Z to be casual, frankly sin cere, took you at your -word and asked no questions about anything you didn't care to tell her. Both had their faults, out don't we all? But tne faults that these women had, were entirely hidden by their many virtues. - What surprised me the most and should have, I'll admit was the fact that my, holier than thou friend, had never met either of them.
