H. ' McKoy realized that a temporary finis had been written to their Jobs of building better citizens during the first school year.: ' ' 'Well wishers' and parents of the senior class who packed the school gymtorium to Its utmost capacity, received a timely commencement address delivered by Rev. Rufus Boone of Wilmington, N. C. Rev. Boone, a brilliant scholar of Shaw. Lincoln and Howard Universities, used The Five Senses' as a sub ject. Parents . with tear-wet eyti and smiling faces heard Rev. Boone tell the graduates that they would have to learn the meanings of 'De pendence, Cooperation, Excellence, and A Respect For The Teachings of God' if they were ever to suc ceed.! . .,;:. Annie Ruth Wright, Salutatorlan and Rebecca Jane Henry, Valedlc torlan assured the capacity crowd that the members of Charity's first graduating class did not intend to die intellectually, but would con tinue and conquer the problems of making better citizens for a bet ter world. - . Prayer was offered by Rev. M. S. Branch, principal of Douglas High School in Warsaw. Rev. A. Dr Wood, a learned scho lar and teacher of Duplin County, brought greetings from the County Board of Education before he pre sented diplomas to the members of the senior class.
