I By CAROLYN CRAVEN District Nine of the Garden Club of North Carolina held its annual meeting in Warsaw on October 29. with the business session sin the Warsaw Baptist Church and the luncheon session at the - American Legion Hut.. Mrs. Conbett E. Howard of Golds boro presided over the meeting of the district of which she is dis trict director, Mrs. i. l,. Stevens, Jr. welcomed the visiting club members to Warsaw and the res ponse was given by Mrs. C. B. Has- brouch of Bladenboro. The state president of the Gar den Club, Mrs. Roy Homewood of Chapel H1U, attended the meeting ana arougnt greetings from the state officers. (In her talk, she presented other officers in atten dance who were Mrs. E. A. Palm gren of , Charlotte, second vize president; Mrs. D. L. Blanton of Charlotte, Chairman of Publica tions;' Mrs. J. A. Warren .Chapel Hill, president of the Wildlife Club; Mrs. J. K. Powell of Whiteville, BeautificaJtion Chairman of the El izabethan Garden Project and edi tor of the North Carolina Gard ener; and ' Mrs. H. R. Colton of Chapel Hill, president of the Lilly Society. ' The two garden clubs in War saw have -the honor of having Mrs. Hector McNeill of Warsaw to serve as the District- Director for the coming year1. Mrs. McNeill was presented to the group by Mrs. Howard nd asked that she receive the same cooperation that Mrs. Howard has had from the individ ual clubs. A prlnsipal feature of the morn ing session was the annual report from each club present. The presi dents of the various clubs made their reports and also gave the number in attendance at the meet ing and the diatance traveled to attend the meeting. .The Garden Cub from Carolina Beach won the attenaaoce prize nasea on , per centage of members present and mileage. .... , One outstanding feature of the day was the luncheon held at the American Legion hut. A country motif was carried out in all decor ations and serving pieces. The large buffet table and the smaller tablet were covered with green and white1 checkered table cloths. A vegetable an dfruit centerpiece graced the buffet table. Wooden bread trays held the barbecued chicken, breads and vegetables while large black iron pots held another vegetable.
