From the list submitted to us, -we selected L. H. Sheffield, who was employed by the Department of Fire Control Equipment Opera tor. Sheffield has only served a few months as County Forest Ranger of Duplin County during which time his work has been very . Core, I am asking that you submit satisfactory. On June 19, District Ranger D. L. McQueen resigned, which resulted in another vacancy in our organization. - We have con sidered all personnel in cur de partment who qualify to take the place of Mr. McQueen and have decided that Sheffield should be promoted to District Ranger with headquarters In Whitevllle; there- names of 4 or 5 prospective appli cants to take the place of Shef field as County Forest Ranger In Duplin County. , Qualifications are as follows. The survey showed that VI per cent of these trees were planted and 80 per cent were alive. United States Steel Corporation broke all production records In October by turning out a total of 3,105,761 pet tons of steel,' an in crease of nearly 120,000 1 tons over the previous high mark of 3,076 578 net tons in March 1952. 'Scores of U. S. Steel plants and many individual shops in all sec tions of the country contribut ed to this production record.
