gifts of lingerie. The gifts were in
wheel barrow decorated with
white crepe , paper and bordered
with ivy. .
The traditional colors of' green
and white were carried out in re
freshments and . decorations. The
home was attractively decorated
for the occasion with arrangements
of Magnolia leaves and white glad
ioli. ,
Mrs. E. J. Hill directed the guests
to the dining room, wehre the table
was covered with a white embroid
ered cloth and centered with a love
ly i arrangement of white gladioli,
where Mrs. W. D. Byrd, mother of
th honoree, . served individual
cakes iced in white and topped' in
green, and Mrs. Ralph ' Honeycutt
served ice cream in bridal molds.
The punch bowl was placed on
a table: in the hall where Mrs.
Baines presided. Mrs. Bill Shine
and Mrs. Seta Hill assisted in serv
ing, t. '
Several bridal contests were con
ducted by., the hostesses' and those
who were awarded prizes as win

The Mineral Springs Home Dem
ontration Club held its June meet
Ins at the home of Mrs. E. B. Hales

The demonstration on "Ways of
net with matching headdresses and
carried bouquets of yellow rosebuds
with ivy. Flowers girls were Nan
Lancaster, cousn of the bride, and
Pamela Herring. They wore ruffled
dresses of pastel net and carried
baskets of rose petals. Greg Smith
nephew of the bridegroom, served
as ringbearer.
, The bride's only sister, Mrs. Blan
che Williams ,was maid of honor.
Her gown Was of baby blue ruffled
net-and with it she wore a matching
headdress and carried a bouquet of
pink sweatheart roses and ivy.
David R. Shivar was his brother's
best man. -
The bride was given in marriage
by her stepfather Otha Milton Ed
wards. She- wore a gown of Chan
tilly lace and nylon tulle over satin
with fitted bodic, apron of lace,
and tulle when formed a semi-train.
Her fingertip veil of nylon tulle
was attached to halo of seedpearls
and her bouquet was of white rose
buds, gypsophila, feverfew and ivy.
The bride's mother wore a street
length dress of navy crepe wth
nayy and white accesories and a
corsage of pink rosebuds.
After the ceremony the bridal
couple greeted guest in the vesti
bule of the church.
For traveling Mrs. Shivar wore
a suit of white imported linen trim
ed in red, and red and white access
ories. After a tour of the Central States
the couple wll go to Columba, 3- C.
where Mr' Shivar will report to
Fort Jackson for reassignment in
the Army.
Mrs. Shivar holds the degree of
bachelor of science in education ,
During thepast year she was a mem
ber of the faculty of the Smithfield
Elementary school.
Mr. Shiver has served with the
United .States Army for the past
five years. He is now on furlough
after a year of service in Korea.

bride here on Saturday in marriage

mer in conducting the ceremony.
Miss Agnes Earnest presented
wedding music.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs.
L. Leroy Jones of Portsmouth and
the late Dr. Jones. -Mr. Driskill is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Driskill of
Lynchburg.
. Dr. T. Elmore Jones, uncle of the
bride, gave her in marriage. She
wore a gown of Chantilly laoe and
tulle with off-shoujder yoke of tulle
and bouffand skirt of tulle apph-
qued with lace in diamond shapes.
Her full length veil of silk illusion
was attached to a lace cap trimmed
with satin and outlined with seed
pearls. She carried a bouquet of
white orchids.fleur 'd'amour and
lillies of the valley.
Mrs. Ewell M. Rawles of Norfolk,
sister of the bride, was matron of
honor. Mrs .Rhae W. Adams of Poit-
mouth and Mrs John E. Scott, Jr.,
of Princeton, N. J. were brMes
mades. They wore gowns of sunset
net with shirred bodices, full skirts
and'matching stoles. They wore mat
ching flowored bandeux and carried
bouquets of sunburst roses and
brown orchids.
Mr. Driskill was his son's best
man. The mother of the bride wore
a gown of white linen and a purple
orchid corsage The bridegroom's mo
ther wore a gown of smokeablue
chiffon and lace with a yellow or-
hid corsage.
A reception was given sifter the
ceremony.
The couple left later for a south
ern wedding trip, the bride wear
ing a silk shantung suit of navy
with navy and white ' accessories
and a white orchid corsage.
Mr. and Mrs. Driskill will ba
at home in Richmond in the fall to
resume their studies at the Medical
College of Virginia.

served egg on toast. During progres
sions toasted nuts and lemonade
were passed.
