From time to time it will be necessary to test under actual situations the further know ledge and systems that will be work ed out so, that we may bettter serve you. It U far better that all this be done in practice rather than have to f try to prove-method when the actual emergency has arrived. This drill should bring pride In your fire department to your hearts, because it proved the efficiency that has been accomplished thus far. The re sults of this practice are a pride to us and should be to all our citizens. Take the word of one experienced hnth nrifh "naM and volunteer de I partments, the time of answering the alarm and , extinguishing the fire could have been bettered very little with the. present arrangements for warning. Whatever inconvenience lt may cause you, it has doubly cost thesei unselfish men. I am very proud of them and time will bear testimony to you, that they .are worthy of your esteem, , The laws of the State of : North Carolina prohibit the folldwing of a piece of fire-apparatus and also prohibit parking a Vehicle within one block of a tire. It will be much for your protection if; this law is obeyed. Also it will add to the ef ficiency of toe fire: department if all except firemen will stay as far away as possible from the scene of .the fire. These men are trained in the method of fire extinguishment and any effort on the part of out siders to assist will only hinder their efficiency.
