Mrs. Peterson Joins Home Dem. Club ' The D. S. Home Demonstration Club is proud to have Mrs. Berta Peterson,, as a, member of their club. She is one of the first women to help start Home Demonstration work in Sampson. in 1914. Mrs. Peterson, attended Farmer's Week in Raleigh and at that insti tute she saw different demonstra tions that would help the homes. Then they decided to start a 4-H c)ub in Sampson.' Mrs. Peterson, took the job of starting it and en listed anyone that wanted to be a member. Now Mrs. Peterson says Home Demonstration work includes so many things that we can not value it's worth. Also 4-H Club work. ' Mrs. Peterson, feels every com munity should have a 4-H club, to encourage the coming generations to love country life, and have some project. She feels grown-ups should continue to develop better rural conditions. If each one will work just a little harder we can have a better community in which our young people will be proud of. Mrs. Petersonworks hard for the D. S. Club and does Church work. Mrs. Croom Hostess To Club Miss Louise Croom was hostess to her bridge club last Wednesday night. Spring flowers were used for decoration. Miss Croom welcom ed her guests by presenting each with a lovely camellia. Mrs. L. H. Fussell was welcomed back into the club. Mrs. L. E. Pope won an azalea plant for high score. Mrs. N. T. Pickett was presented an azalea plant for second high, and Mrs. Kenneth Taylor a Landina for low score. The hostess served a chicken salad plate and coffee. P. T. A. Elects Officers The Magnolia P.TA. held its reg ular meeting; Monday, March 8, in the School Auditorium. The High School Glee Club rendered several selections with Mrs. J. A. Johnson, director. L. H. Fussell was guest speaker. He gave an interesting and informa tive talk on "Russia". ' The following officers were elect ed for the 1054-55 school year. Ad mah Lanier, Jr., President; Mrs. A Q. Smith, vice-president; J. C. Chestnutt, Secretary and Treasurer. A meeting of the Finer Carolina Steering i Committee and ' Project Leaders met in the Cottage Grill, Tuesday, March 7, at 8:00 pjn. ' Each Project Leader reported on their plans. Many pictures have been made. The cemetery is show ing more . improvement than any other project at present, thanks to John' Smith and his Boy Scouts. The colored people are cooperating in the cemetery program. We are expecting the same cooperation from them on each project After the meeting a Television show was enjoyed.
