M.; March 1L 1954 at the club building with the president in the chair. The meeting opened by singing, "The Star Spangled Banner." Devotional was . led by Mrs. L. E Pope. Minuses of the last meeting Were read and approv ed. . The roll call followed after which the treasurer gave her re port. ,. The order of the meeting was reversed due to length of the dem onstration. Mrs. Pauline Johnson gave the demonstration on planning food for the family, the right kinds and the proper amount of each to be frozen or canned to meet the family requirements. An outlined leaflet was given each member to help them estimate the needed supply for their families. Proper methods of canning and freezing were discussed, also the variety of food which gave best results. A variety of canned meat, fruit and vegetables also pickles, jam and jelly were on display at the meet ing. After the demonstration there was a short business session. The club is 'sponsoring the clean-up of houses and yards in the Finer Caro lina program. This was discussed and some plans of work were made out. Health leader, Mrs. Harold Ezzell, gave some simple health rules to be observed if we wish to care for our health. Music leader, Mrs. JJ. Everett led the group in singing a hymn. Everyone was invited to go into the kitchen and see the' new gas range which had been installed since the last meeting. The meeting adjourned by re peating the collect. The hostesses, Mrs. Alvin Powell and Mrs. J. C. Chestnutt served delicious refreshments of punch, sandwiches, and cookies.
