District m, was t -the guest speaker. The Father's ob served some of 'the woodworking .projects which the boys undertake t in the school's shop. The lovely affair was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas McDaniel of Falling Creek. Miss . May was presented with bridal corsage and, lovely gift1 of silver by the hostesses. In the absence of the chairman, Mrs. H. C. Turner, who was ill, Mrs. Simpson presided. The' program, presented by Mrs. Sarah Lee Small, dealt on aid given by the home Church toward estab lishing churches in South America and Mexico. She was assisted by Mrs. Simpson, Miss Nannie Carra way and Mrs. Murphy BOstic. The hostess served strawberry short cake and iced drinks. The two circles hold a Joint ses sion at the church each Monday night after the fourth Sunday in the month. Mrs, Billy Brewer, pres ident of the Womans Society, pre sides at these meetings. A-2cMhson EnRoiteFar East Personals .Mr. Scott Herring of Pink Hill, Route 2, is doing nicely at his home following a unique accident, re cently. While enjoying steak sup-, per, he had a piece of steak lodge in his throat, below the air passage, and was unable to take more food' until doctors at Memorial General Hospital, Kinston, removed it two days later. May Miss Ann May, bride-elect, was honored recently at a kitchen show er given by Mrs. James L. Nash and Miss June Wilson at the home of Mrs. Nash on Harding Avenue. The bride-to-be was presented with a lovely corsage of hyacinth florets upon her arrival. Beautiful floral arrangements were effectively used throughout the rooms in which the guests as sembled. A spirited session of games was conducted by Miss'Wilson. Winners of the various games presented gifts to (he honoree. Miss May then opened her array of attractive and useful gifts. . During the refreshment hour green tinted cake was served with green and white brick ice cream, carrying .out the bridal theme. Vhifford Hill In , Whitford Hill of Pink Hill, who recently came out in the race for Lenoir County Commissioner, has resigned from the chairmanship of the Production and Marketing Com mittee, a post he has held for the past five years. According to Fed eral regulations, members of this committee cannot hold positions after they enter politic, successfully, or not. . A-2C Harold L. Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Johnson of Pink Hill has processed at Parks Air Force Base, California, en route to the Far East. Prior to his overseas shipment, Airman Johnson was sta tioned at Kansas City, Missouri. He is a graduate of Pink Hill High School,' class of 1952 and is married to the former Sallle Howard of Pink Hill, who is residing with her mother at present. 3r.'J. iU. r- The annual Mother-Daugher Ban quet of the PinkT Hill Chapter of the Future Home Makers of Amer ica was held in the cafeteria of the school, here, Friday night. Janice Harper gave the toast to the mothers and Mrs. Ervin Murphy responded. Miss Maggie Haddock advisor to the chapter was presented a gift and corsage from the members. The menu consisted of tomato Juice, chicken salad, garden peas, potato chips, pickles, oliyes, rolls, butter, ice cream, cake and tea. Approximately seventy-five at tended. W.rl. Jones III W. H. Jones,' Pink Hill and Kins ton business man, has been confined to his home in Pink Hill by illness. Mr. Davis Home Mr. Sam Davis, an operative pa tient at a Kinston Hospital recent ly, has returned home. Mrs. Smith Wins High Score Mrs. J. J. Smith was presented a blooming azalea potted plant as the winner of high score for mem bers, when Mrs. H. A Edwards entertained the weekly bridge club at her home in Pink Hill, Wednes day afternoon. Pretty arrangements of seasonal flowers adorned the living room where tables were set for play. Mrs. Helen Turner re ceived the prize for second high and Mrs. D. W. Ruffin the consola tion trophy. The hostess served Iced drinks, with potato chips at the beginning of play anil pineapple salad with cookies and coffee- following three progressions.
