This being Youth Week the Y.W.A. had charge with Miss Wilma Brin son presiding. The meeting, opened with singing the WJ&U. hymn, "Jesus Saves"- after which Betty Ann Parker' led in prayer. Peggy Taylor gave the secretary's report. : Mrs. J. Ellis West welcomed the Y.WA, and told of their splendid work during the past year, they met the requirements and thus ac quired a standard organisation. , Miss Betty Phillips, program chairman, presented a most Inter esting program on "Medical Ml sioai in South America.' An outstanding address was given by Miss Constance Blaekstock, Mission ary to India, who was dressed in Indian ' Costume., There were two hundred attending the luncheon. The afternoon "session was taken up with all district officers reporting. Those attending from Warsaw were Mrs. A. M. Benton, Mrs. J. C. Surra tt and Mrs. Lela Middleton. Mrs. Harry Grady, J.' A. Grady, Mrs. Belton Minshew and boys. Brad and Arthur, and Miss Grace Beasley visited the Homer "Browns and Mrs. Myrtle Strickland at Rose Hill Saturday. Charles Hales, ' an' outstanding dramatic student - at Appalachin State Teachers College at Boone, N. C. has bee given a special in vitation to Join the Theatrical Com pany of Plymouth, Mass. This Theatrical Co. sponsors a festival each summer for six weeks entitled "Plymouth Drama Festival." A se lect tew from colleges throughout the U. S. A. are given invitations to' loin this group. . i Charles has been chosen to be assistant director for the "It's the Clown Who Ran Away" to be pre- sented at the' college during the spring quarter. He was given honor able' mention for the interpretation of the difficult pari he played as Coney the Jur, In the Play Crafters production of "Home of the Brave" when this play was presented three times at the college during the win ter at eLnoir, N. C. and will be entered at the Festival at Chapel H11U ' . ' Mr: Hales, pon of Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Hales of Warsaw is a graduate of Warsaw High School and Camp bell College, where he was a charter member' of the Campbell Colllege Cast ' of the Delta Psi Omega, a member of the college Dramateers, he played one of the leading roles in five plays while there. Mr,, Hales has also 'been offered a job as Theatrical Director for .the outdoor pageant "Sword of Gidean" to be given at Kings Mountain. Mrs. BJBXb Wheless assited by Mrs. David Chamber and. Mrs. Davis Hollingsworth presented the program. Miss Betty Loftin closed the meeting With prayer. CIRCLE NO. Circle number two met Monday afternoon at the home of Mrs. D. H. Carlton with 'eleven present Mrs. F. J. Thomas, chairman, presided. Mrs. Walter Bostie gave the de votional. Mrs. Leslie Brown assist ed by Mrs. Paul Berry gave the program. The hostess served lemon fluff, toasted nuts and coffee. CntCLE NO. s Circle number three met with Mrs, Eugene Johnston Monday after noon. There were eleven members present Mrs. L. S. Whittle, chair man,' presided., Mrs. John Barden gave the devotional. Mrs. Robert Blackmore, Mrs. Whittle and Mrs. C. W. Hinson presented the pro gram. The hostess served cream cheese sandwiches, "nuts, ice ' cream, cake and punch. , The club president Mrs. Lott Kor negay, cut the birthday cake. Guests served themselves and were seated after which Mr. R. V. Phillips re turned thanks. The menu consisted of fried chicken, ham, salad, eng lish peas, corn sticks, hot biscuits, hors'd'oeuvre, sliced tomatoes, cake, pie and coffee.
