Vote To Consolidate High Schools The Warsaw P.TA. met. in the High School Auditorium Tuesday evening at eight o'clock with Mrs. Eugene Beasley, president, presid ing. The meeting opened with the Rhythm Band, members of the two first grades, playing three songs under the direction of Carolyn Gresham. The secretary's report was given by Mrs. Ralph Best, Jr. The treasurer's report was given by Mrs. H. R. Hipp. During the business session a motion was made ana carried to support the move on foot to consolidate the Warsaw, Kenans ville and Magnolia High Schools. Mrs. V. A. Stancil's first grade won the room count, Mrs. W. W. Garner presented her Rhythm Dance Class in a recital. Mrs. Ervin Sloan Honored Mrs. George Pridgen and Mrs. Ralph Vernon entertained at a stork shower for Mrs. Ervin Sloan Friday evening at Mrs. Pridgen's apartment. Arrangements of roses, narcissus and iris were used in the living room. Contests were won by Mrs. John Fonvielle. Mrs. Arnold Davis and Mrs. John Royall. Enter Stale Finals Sally and Gail Newton of Kenans ville and Annie Lou Carter of War- Friday saw entered the State 'Finals in the North Carolina Federation of Music Clubs Festival in Chapel Hill, Sat urday, April 24. Sally Newton played the Mozart A Major piano concerto and received a Superior rating. Gail Newton ac companied her on the second piano. Judges for the concerto event were Mr. Loren Withers of JJuke Univer sity, Mr. Stuart Pratt of Meredith College and Miss Ruth Haig of St Mary's College. ." Annie Lou Carter sang in the Folk Song Event and received high praise from lr. and Mrs. I. G. Greer, noted folk song authorities from Chapel Hill. The folk song soloists were not given a definite rating. The three girls are students of Mrs. W. J. Middleton, Jr. of Warsaw. Participate In Music Contest Sally and Gail Newton of Kenans ville, students of Mrs. W. J. Middle ton, Jr., participated in the North Carolina Music Contest-Festival for High Schools at Woman College in Greensboro Friday April 23rd. Sally Newton received a Superior rating in piano and Gail Newton received an Excellent rating. Maurice Dumesnil, international French pianist and author who has toured Europe, South America and America as a lecturer and concert pianist was the judge. Mrs. E. A. Newton and MrsW. J.
