C. ITiTT .am To Church Sunday- Our Lord's Aviation Corps By REV. C. HERMAN TRUELOOD -x TEXT: "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles." Isaiah 40:?1 One of the truly great wonders of the modern world is the aeroplane. T is here to stv, and will grow in usefullness, as "ships in the nir." Being an aviator, and flying an air-ship must be an experience most i.mtjue. isaian, (iU:31 reminds us that, from an eternitv standpoint, there is such a matter as "Spiritual Aviation," and that learning to fly spiritu ally is extremely important. Let u. meditate briefly upon tne pussimlities and glories of "Our Lord's Aviation Crew: 1. A NECESSARY CONDITION PRESCRIBED - "Waiting upon the Lord." The flyer that steers his mighty ship .into the air, had first of all to do a "lot of waiting" before he made his "solo" flight. H; had to wait upon his superior officers. He had to wait for instructions, to wait for guidance, to wait fsr much training before he could ":?iount up with wings," in full control of an areoplane. So it is with the Spiritual Aviator - he must first "wait upon the Lord." Waiting upon the Lord suggest communion and fellowship with the Lord. Waiting upon the Lord means "thinking God's thoughts after Him;" or. as the Psnlmisl put it "I thought on my way, and turned my feet unto they testimonies." Waiting upon the Lord means "Tuning in" on Station P-R-A-Y-E-R. Waiting upon the Lord, implies Bible study, church attendance, and cooperation with God's people in spreading the eosnel. Waiting noon the Lord implies "Growing in the grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ." 2 Peter 3:18. II. A GLORIOUS PROMISE MADE - "They that wait upon the Lord, shall renew their strength." plus exercise "waiting upon the religious job is exercise." The man who would fly an aeroolane in the sky, must not only meditate - that is think, and listen, and learn from his instructors, but he must put into practice what he has learned; he must LEARN by DOING. So it is with very high in Christian experience, he word, but also a doer of the word" "renewed strength," to those who "Wait upon the Lord." IIL A NOBLE" VICTORY ASSURED - "Mounting up with wings as an eagle."" The possibility of "mounting up," higher, and higher, in Christian experience and achievement, is what God. offers every sincere, true-hearted child of His. The Christian religion is a religion of Faith and Hope; faith and hope constitute the two wings of the Spiritual Avia tor. The Christian who waits upon the Lord becomes strong in the feat wine of faith; the other wing, hope, beats in harmony with it - as Paul said: "We are saved by hope." Hope buoys up the soul and encourages it to daring deeds of Christian service. Given the pinions of both faith and hope, the Christian will "Mount Up," higher and higher into the spiritual sky, and on the path of duty indicated by the will of God. I PEARSALL CHAPEL F.W.B. Rev. "It sounds like a revolt," said he. "Not a revolt, Si;e, ' was the reply, " a revolution." A re volt is a' revolution that deesn't "click"; a revolution is a revolt that succeeds. Yet I the success of a revolution is not to be measured by what it accom plishes there and then. Only as the years go on can any man assess a new movement. political or , any other sort. That is a terrible tag to hang on a man; that he is the cause of a nation's 'in. But it was true of this man. What in particular had Jeroboam done, as King of Israel, to "make Israel to sin"?
