Negro 4-H Team
"E" for effort was the term given
the Negro 4-H boys' team demon
stration held in the lunch room at
the elementary school in Wallace,
according to R. E. Wilkins, Negro
County Agent.

of the N, C, Experiment station
applied the term to the teans com
peting for county awards and
honors, The contest is being spon
sored by the Pa.gs Home Appliance

Taking the 1st place in the con--
test was the Douglas High School
team comprised of James E. Jones
and Clemice Lewis. This team will
receive an award for the Page Ap
pliance Company on the Annual
Achievement Day on November 14,
and will also represent Duplin
County at the Southeastern District
Federation at Elizabethtown on
June 3. Miss Bessie Beatty, and
Charles Chalmers, teacher leaders
of Warsaw are the teams' coaches.
The Chinquapin and Wallace team
won second and third place res
pectively.
Principal J. B. Dafford of Wallace
made brief remarks and A. O. Wil
liams presented the second and
third place teams with cash awards.

The Beulaville I. H. A. attended a
County F.'H. A. Rally Saturday at
the Jones Central High School.
Almena Brown gave the responsee
to the greeting and Jerry Ann
Sandlin was reporter. A picnic lunch
was served and in the afternoon
Folk dancing and relay games were
enjoyed. Miss Faye Hagan advisor
accompanied the group and Cecil
Whaley drove the bus.
Four girls modeled dresses in the
Fashion show held in Kennansville
Sunday afternoon in the annual art
festivel were Immogene Jackson,
Julia Dean Weston, Ann Weston
and Joyce Lee Whaley.

The table, covered in linen was
decorated with a lovely arrange
ment of carnations flanked with
candles in candelbra. Each corner
of the table was tied with miniature
nosegays, fern and ribbon. The
traditional three-tiered cake top
ped with bride end groom was
served by Mrs. Freely Hall, mother
of the bride-elect. After it was cut
by the honorees. Mrs. Ralph Miller
poured punch. Nuts and mints were
served from the table. The bride
,and groom elect presented gifts to
their attendants.
