' So long, ed when we arrived at Mt, Vernon, but this historical place afforded such interest that we soon forgot our fatigue. After we had seen Mt Vernon, we went on to the Ebbitt hotel, which is located midway bet ween the White House and the Capi- uh and whlch b m the business and theatric! districts. Needless to say we all welcomed the sight of that hotel. - ' - In the following two days we saw such sights as the Mint the Smithon ian Institute, the Jefferson Memorial,- the Washington Mounment which we climbed, the Capital, the White House, the Tomb of the Unkown Soldier arid others. We Visited Mr. L. K. Alderman, Jr. and he explained some of the functions of the Capital to us. We went on a cruise down the Patomac iver and it was a pleas ant experience I'm sure none of us will ever forget. We went to the Valley Echo Amusement Park and there we all took a ride which will stand out in my mind forever. We rode the Roller Coaster and as for myself, it was a memorable event That's one ride I'll never forget The weather hile we were in Washington was cool and it rain ed several times, but we were heed less of the weather because we were having such a wonderful time. Only once did misfortune strike one of our class mates, Mikie Blan- ton.lost her luggage and it caused quite a stir. The luggage wasnt recovered and we were all sorry that anything as unfortunate as that should happen, i On the whole, though, we all had a marvelous. time. We left Washington Thursday u . 'rY'xi , DeaMe Feature i THE ATTIC ' morning, because we were, to see Luray Caverns. To me, this was one of th$ most fascinating sights.. The Caverns seemed to possess a mystery all of their own and they were truly magnificent in their splendor. " ' '' We thoroughly enjoyed our chap- erones, Mr, and Mrs; Vale and then- daughter ; Catherine. Their thoughtfulness and good humor made the. trip more than. successfuL!;;i- Even though the ' trip Is in the past, I'm sure It Will be remember ed by all with fond memories in the coming year. 7 BAR-B-QUE SALE , .
